I got home tonight and tried turning The Auto Off feature on my M Plus and then went to pray with our son for his goodnight prayers. Just as I got back it turned off by itself. So I placed the Swift on and started breathing into the mask for it to turn on and took it off(The Swift) after the alarm clock advanced to the next minute. From what I could tell the M Plus is setup to turn off after Two minutes. Now if you went to the bathroom and washed up afterwards you may have been within that two minute time period. I would try a test like I did to verify on yours.
Hope it helps.

Respironics M Series Call For Questions
OH NO! NOT ANOTHER DUMB "SMART CARD"
I am massively disappointed.
Why the
"smart card" ?
I would expect to find a USB 2.0 interface which could not only cough up the data for analysis, but could also plug into most computers to feed the data to the remote DME office, (and thus save the several hour journey to the big city to have the card read). A USB port could also serve to flash upgrade the controller firmware when newer and better algorithms become available, or fix bugs in existing firmware. Also it could interface to some of the cheap cheap cheap USB thumb drives which are widely available. Those could hold LOTS of detailed information. I will guess it was a marketing, not engineering decision. (WOOOOHOOOO! another $GAZILLION BUCKS for the proprietary add-ons). It seems with the new model they have missed a big opportunity to walk away from the *cough* SMART CARD technology. Consider the cost of an FDA recall, dread the thought, should that ever happen. I know these things are "perfect", but sometime bugs "just happen". A USB interface would make "field service" more cost effective.
I can think of MANY more reasons to use a USB port in place of the
"smart card". Remote monitoring of compliance and clinical data? Equipment diagnostics. Pressure setting/monitoring, local or remote. (Download those kewl alarm-tones ). A USB interface could also support/intergrate other proprietary add-ons (pulse oximeter? heart-rate monitor? etc.), and they wouldn't need to plug directly into the xPAP, only into a local hub or directly on the computer.
My question for Respironics:
WHAT WERE YOU THINKING ??????

Are there any plans for an integrated battery or an add-on down the road? (I'm wondering how the M series will compare with Aieomed's Everest Aura). Right now it sounds like the top of the line M model will have just about everything I would want in a dream xPAP save for the battery with trickle charge, auto on in case of power outage, etc.
I guess I'm also wondering how it compares with Puritan Bennett's GoodKnight series that are small and which auto adjust to altitude and you can plug into DC without inverter (Does the M series require an inverter or special cord that's not included?)
And, of course, I want to know how the M series compares to their current larger models. It seems logical they'd have all the same features plus some new advancements, but I want to know they haven't left off any of the old familiar features.
Will I need new or different software than I already have? Or a different kind of smart card or reader? (If I picked up an M series for when I travel, would I have to invest in new smart cards and other paraphenalia to work with it or can I use the stuff I use with my Auto machine already?)
And when is the auto M coming out?
