rested gal,

You are right, the REMstar "smart card" is not the same as the generic compact data "smart card" used in digital cameras etc...

Can you post a pic of it?

LarryJ,

The REMstar smartcard is about the size and thickness of a credit card. For a pict of the reader see the link I posted near the beginning of this thread.

I believe "SmartCard" is a specific format. I've never heard of a digital camera which used one (they usually use CompactFlash, SDRam, xdRam, memory stick, SmartMedia, or one of several other formats).

SmartCard should be pretty much the same thing as you find in the DirectTV or DishNetwork receiver, if you have such a thing.

This is the info I needed as I also have a reader for that from when I use to program direct tv cards.

Unless you're a dealer or something, you might want to not broadcast that too loudly.... and also you might want to tell me how to hack a DirecTV card, I've always wondered.

Liam, who is JUST KIDDING, officer. Really!

Cant do it anymore since they went to the new cards, that is untill someone finds out how to hack the new ones. All I'm getting at is it seems that even $200 is alot for just software if the reader is available fairly cheap $20-$30

If anyone has the Encore software, I am willing to purchase a copy to see how it works. Just a copy.
