Re: New kid on the block
I'll up it to 6 or 7 tonight after playing with it while awake and see how that feels. I can always go up some the next night if needed I guess. If I'm awake reading and just sitting with it on my face, it makes me crazy. I've been just waiting until I'm ready to crash to deal with it. The chin strap and the straps from the headgear kept slipping all around and wouldn't stay. If I tightened things down, then the CPAP was too tight on my face like I had been wearing it. If I put it where it worked best, then they were everywhere. I'm wondering about sewing some sort of bonnet and attaching the CPAP to it. Then I'd have a chin strap and CPAP headgear in one. Hmmm. I guess being a seamstress comes in handy at times.

The bonnet already exists. It's called the Papcap.

I want to make one like Princess Leia buns or an elephant head... maybe Yoda. I dunno. I figure it wouldn't be so bad if I made it fun/silly. Yes, I might be a complete dork.

Hey Angela, I put my chin strap on first and then my OPUS 360. The chin strap stays in place better when it is under the mask, and it seems to make the mask fit more securely as well. Also, if you're half asleep and need to use the bathroom at night, all you have to do is unhook the hose from the mask without worrying about the chin strap slipping off. That setup may work better for you.AbbyNormal wrote:I'll up it to 6 or 7 tonight after playing with it while awake and see how that feels. I can always go up some the next night if needed I guess. Re: New kid on the block
Yeah, that's actually how I wore it. My hair is long and very soft... it just slid all over the fucking place. It also made the claustrophobia worse. I don't like hats, even, but I think I could make something along the lines of a PapCap I could tolerate. It's gotta' be cute though dammit!! I want it to look like a unicorn puked awesome sauce all over it. Tee hee!
I'm sure there's a story behind your Brucifer niccy from the GF, but like the Mistress comment earlier in this post I suspect this is the wrong type of forum to air it. HA!!

Re: New kid on the block
Abby, Long while back someone wrote up a cure for that slip-slidding around! It's called Velcro. They attached the side with the hooks (facing out) to the straps where they touch the hair. The hooks of the Velcro kept the straps from slipping. Didn't learn what impact that had on the hair... if anything. But I can attest that it works. Put some on each side of the plastic buckle for the strap that goes around the back of the head and some on the strap going over the top of your head. Didn't try any on the side above the ears. Thought that would make an uncomfortable lump... But maybe not! Don't see any damage to hair. Also pull hair up into a bun on the top of my head and that kinda keeps the lower strap from sliding up and off.AbbyNormal wrote:My hair is long and very soft... it just slid all over the fucking place.
I put chin strap on first too. That makes it easier to take the headgear off to get out of bed.
Hope tonight is even easier... You sure have come a long way. As you are a fighter you'll make it!
Best wishes and sweet dreams,
Cindy

Re: New kid on the block
Thanks, Cindy! I'll give that a try! I had been putting my hair in a ponytail but that didn't work either. If I yawned or did anything, everything would shift out of place. I just got so mad that about 4am I gave up and ripped everything off and tried to lay back down minus anything at all. I've stopped taking the Melatonin too. I only took that the first week. I figured unless I want to take Melatonin or some other sleeping pill my whole life, I better deal with these issues now and just get it over with. I'm a rip the bandaid off fast type of person anyway.
Thank you for the kind words, you're a total doll! <3
