1st night with Zeo - UPDATED
Re: 1st night with Zeo - UPDATED
So I got my Zeo on Thursday and wear it for the first time Friday night which I knew would be a bad night. It was birthday night out so lots of heavy pasta dinner and lots of drinks. Got 5 hrs and very little rem or deep sleep but I thought it would be a bad night and it was. Last night my 22 yr old daughter worn it so I could see a fresh/young sleeper numbers. She had Rem of 2 hrs and deep of 2-1/2 in 8 hours with 2 wakes. I'm excited to see what I have for numbers tonight. Since becoming a hosehead I like to run little tests to see how my day, drinks and activities affects my sleep and how I feel the next day!!!
I have the smartphone version and it's rocks so far!!!!

Re: 1st night with Zeo
Congratulations on the successful night! Guess i better get off my tablet and work on sleep hygiene. Been laying here in bed for nearly an hour all hosed up and with Zeo strapped on trying to catch up on the forum posts My ZQ is gonna be in the tank and I have to be up for work in 7 hrs.2flamingos wrote:Lazer - like you, I did not get beyond Stage 2 in my study, and not significant amounts of 3 or REM during my titration.
Last night was one of the best nights sleep I have had in a long time. I felt great this morning and woke up before the alarm. Zeo says I got 1:14 Deep Sleep, and 2:22 REM! in 8:16 of sleep time. My ZQ score was 91. PAP had my AHI at 2.9. Dunno what I did right last night, but I need to do it more often!

Re: 1st night with Zeo
I clocked in a 107 last night, one shy of my all time record. I got done with a large project at work and the ZQ jumped from the 60's-80's up into the 100's the last 2 nights. Can you say "Stress Relief"?lazer wrote:My ZQ is gonna be in the tank and I have to be up for work in 7 hrs.

I feel your pain.. As per my other thread, last night was a shortened night for me also: Time to Z: 2hrs 3min.s / ZQ 0f 71 / 6% deep / 37% REM / 1% wake / 6hr. 40min.s2flamingos wrote:well, last night was not so good. ZQ of 53. 33 deep, 37 REM, 26 awake, in 5 hrs and 40 min. And, I feel it!

Re: 1st night with Zeo - UPDATED
I tried the Zeo Bedside for the first time last night. I was sad to see this morning that the unit said, "incomplete data." The website FAQs were not overly helpful, just suggesting that I "adjust" the headband.
The headband did not feel too loose to me. Through the night, whenever I looked over at the Bedside display it showed the icon of receiving data.
I did get up a couple of times, and was out of the room for 3-5 minutes. Does that cause a problem? Should I tighten the headband tonight?
It still displayed a ZQ of 80, but there was no other data.

Re: 1st night with Zeo - UPDATED
John, a couple of things which may or may not apply. First, don't put the headband back on the unit when you get up in the night. It restarts the session. 2nd, a momentary power interuption (like from lightening) will wipe out a recording session.
I find it odd that you have a ZQ with incomplete data. Did you try to upload the data to the site? Did you look at Sleep History (on the machine) in case you've started a second session by putting the head band back. To start a second session, the headband must be off the stand for a period of time, I think 10 minutes, and the device must register a sleep phase. In the case of mulple sessions during a 24 hour period, I think the device uses the longest one.

Yes, the site also complained of incomplete or no data.Jay Aitchsee wrote: Did you try to upload the data to the site?
Interesting! Actually, I had not scrolled through the machine, since the main page said incomplete data.Did you look at Sleep History (on the machine)
First off, I did not remove the headband throughout the night. I was not sure if I should leave it in the room, but I decided to continue to wear it when I went for a bathroom break.
When I did review the data on the machine after reading your note, it now appears all the data was there -- perhaps it had an issue writing to the SD card or something?
Here is what it showed:
Total Sleep: 7:03
Time to Z: 4 Minutes
Wake: 3% or 15 Minutes
REM: 33% or 2:23
Light: 50% or 3:40
Deep: 14% or 1:30
ZQ: 80
When I checked the SD card in my machine, it had a ZEOSLEEP.DAT file with a last edit date of 6:41 which is when I got up.
I'm happier now - thanks for the pointer - but still a little confused about the message.

Re: 1st night with Zeo - UPDATED
I've left the room to take a leak in the middle of the night and never remove the Zeo headband and my bathroom is aprox 15' away from the bedroom in a different hallway. Never had any issues show up in doing this. Not sure what happened with your report, John. Maybe try another night or so and if it still does this, either try a different SDcard or get a RA to return the unit for another one is my best guess.

Re: 1st night with Zeo - UPDATED
John, I don't know what happened either, but it looks like (by your numbers) you had a pretty good night!
It does sound like there may be a problem writing to the card. You had it installed during the night? It's not locked, is it? Seems to me if the machine recorded a session, it should write to the card, and you should be able to upload it.
I usually take my headband off and leave it on the bed if I get up. The reason I do is once I thought it recorded deep sleep while I was in the bathroom and I thought the machine might interpret reduced signal strength as deep; but that may not have been the case at all.

Re: 1st night with Zeo - UPDATED
The only times I get "incomplete data" message, it is a very rare occurrence but I got one last night, was because of a power fail. We had some pretty decent thunderstorms last night and awoke to all the clocks on the appliances blinking.
Regarding range, it may vary depending on the radio frequency interference. I have my Zeo Bedside downstairs in my "secret underground lair" and I sleep upstairs just above. No problem, I can wander the house, no problem *unless* I go past the area where our furnace room is. For some reason, either upstairs or down, if I walk past that part of the house there's no signal to the base unit. In that case I just get a gap in the data, but not an "incomplete data" message. I get that ONLY on power blips.

I'd agree. I was really tired, and feel asleep very quickly.Jay Aitchsee wrote:John, I don't know what happened either, but it looks like (by your numbers) you had a pretty good night!
There was a file written to the card. I'm starting to wonder if there was a blip in the power, as there were storms last night. Most of my critical electronics are on UPS, but as I was just testing this item last night, it was in an outlet without a UPS. While I saw some distant lightning, and there was a bit of rain, non of the other non-UPS devices indicated that we suffered a power outage. You had it installed during the night? It's not locked, is it? Seems to me if the machine recorded a session, it should write to the card, and you should be able to upload it.
Or, maybe you are on to something, and the bathroom is a great place to catch some Zzzzz's!I usually take my headband off and leave it on the bed if I get up. Re: 1st night with Zeo - UPDATED
It all seemed to work fine last night. I did use the Bedside Zeo option to reformat the SD card before going to bed last night, figuring that it now seems that only the SD card related stuff had failed.
