ComfortLite 2
ComfortLite 2
Okay, all you people who were guinea pigs for the rest of us, what's the verdict? The old thread is way back on page 3 now and I'm wondering if you still like this interface. And have any of you used the simple cushion.
That's the one I'm really interested in. I expect to place my order for all my 'stuff' on Monday, so any comments would be appreciated.
Oh, and is anyone using a chin strap with this interface? Which one and how is it working?

I'm trying mine tonight with, I'm so confused, I think the simple cushion - the nasal one.
I'll post in the a.m. With the expert advice of Rested Gal on hooking up my hose, I hope to have a good night's sleep!

I'm trying out mine tonight too. I am going to use the medium seal. So far I like the different adjustments. Out of all the masks I have, this is the one that I can adjust the best. What I don't like is how rough the piece on the forhead feels. I am going to cut some soft fabric and cover the forehead piece with. I will let you know tomorrow how I liked it.

I used mine for a week and other than a few irritating features like the hard plastic elbow and the "too streachy" headgear, I thought I liked it... until I put my Aura back on and compared to the CL2 it felt like heaven. So... my CL2 has moved on to greener pastures (meaning I sold it to another forum member) That should also mean you'all will soon have two reviews for the price of one!
Sincerely,

I still like the ComfortLite 2 better than any other nasal pillows mask except the Aura ("Headrest" by Aeiomed.) After using the CL2 a couple of weeks straight, I went back to my deconstructed Aura. If there were no such mask as the Aura, I'd be using the CL2 all the time.
The CL2's headgear didn't seem too stretchy to me - quite comfy and secure. The big pad across the forehead on the CL2 might annoy some people.
Using a connector hose from the dumb elbow thingy on top and having my main air hose hung overhead (as usual, with any mask I wear) kept everything working fine for toss'n'turn sleeping with the CL2.
Least expensive place I've found so far for buying a connector hose with swivel that works perfectly with the CL2 is at:
Mirage Vista Mask Parts, tube and swivel, stock# 60926
It's also here:
Inlet Tube with Swivel Assembly for Mirage Vista Mask, part# 60926
If a person already has an Activa mask or a Vista mask, the connector tube that comes with either of those masks is the same swivel tube...works great as an add-on to the ComfortLite 2.

1st night
Okay - my 1st night was decent.
I really liked the headgear - VERY comfy.
Now I just need to make minor adjustments.
I leaked using the simple cushion and had to swap over to my breeze which I am used to. I don't adjust masks for more than 30 or so seconds at night (got to get those zzzzzz's in!)
I want to make the simple cushion work because the nasal pillows work just fine on my breeze but I don't like the back of the head gear and I like a nasal fit.
All and all, my first impressions are very good. With the EXPERT assistance from Rested Gal with using the tubing from the Activa, I'm on the road to getting it working. It has taken me a week or so to get used to my other two masks, so I've got some more tweaking to do and don't expect it to work over night ha ha.
But there is one very important thing I learned, if you do use the simple cushion, it is placed "in a ball and socket" which can also be adjusted.
The only problem I can foresee, is that I have it on the tightest setting on the nose piece to get it to stop leaking.
Also - if I were the "maker of this interface" I'd take that, excuse me, stupid elbow and just connect it like the breeze which works just fine, thank you!
Any advice here, RG?

Decisions, decisions!
Well, I would have tried the Aura, but I have a very small head and that's why I chose the Comfortlite II.
The only way I'd try the Aura is with Rested Gal's modifications. Might try that sometime, but am going to give this on a good shot!
Will post after I get it "fixed". I have e-mailed Respironics about the elbow - just put in my 2 cents worth about it!

I briefly tried the Comfortlite 2. I found the hard elbow tube uncomfortable on the top of my head compared to the deconstructed Aura and the Swift which both have nothing on top. I am currently using the deconstructed Aura but find the pantyhose straps/cosmetic foam cushions a bit awkward and cannot always keep it leak free, even with XL pillows which helped alot. When I get frustrated with the Aura, I switch back to the Swift which is not awkward but the hard support for the pillows can get bumped in moving around, causing leaks and waking up. I guess I still wait for the perfect mask. PS: Because I don't post often, I should say I really appreciate you folks who do and give us some sense of sanity in all this stuff.
Not for me
The ComfortLite2 is not the mask for me. The direct seal felt too much like the Swift pillows. I woke up in the middle of the night feeling like my nose was on fire. I tried switching to the nose piece and was able to finish the night with that. The ComfortCurve and the Ultra Mirage II are better masks for me.
2nd night
Last night was my 2nd night with the comfort lite II with the simple cushion.
I used the medium cushion this time. I raised my cpap to the bottom of my bedside table to allow me to tie my heated hose to the bed post to make sure I had enough tubing to roll over without jerking the head gear.
I adjusted the head gear and brought it down right over my eyebrows. When I got in bed, I made sure I had no leaks. I took an idea from Rested Gal (could not remember what she used) so I cut a leg of a pair of panty hose. I put the hose right under my simple cushion and tied it around my head just to make sure the bottom of the cushion was a little more secure on my nose. I put on my chin strap as usual and slept great! I, of course, made sure the panty hose was well away from the exhaust port.
I did do a little adjusting here and there through the night, but no major problems at all. It is simply put, the most comfortable headgear I've used. No pressure points inside or outside the nose and I like the fact that the simple cushion is so small and does not have straps which go around the side of your face.
Also - out of the activa and breeze - this interface is much quieter! Only hisses at me if I leak a bit.
Thumbs up from Sleepyred!

Yep, sure did! Hose to help the hose head!
But about the "lab rat" remark - my 4 fancy rats, Avi, Possum, Poppy and Molly were quite nervous when they heard me say that out loud! I can hear them now "she better not put that HOSE THING on my head!"
