Sleepyhead data question
Hey all- it's my first post! (and there was much celebration)
Quick question. I've got three distinct data sections (nap/quick start stop/sleep) that obviously make up one full day and my AHI average is based on that. How do I highlight or isolate the actual section when I was out for the night so
I can analyze it?
Thanks and it's good to be here.

Re: Sleepyhead data question
I think you're saying you captured 3 sessions within one day and you only want to be looking at the 3rd one only? If that's what you're asking, go to the daily tab and on the lower lefthand side of the screen you should see 3 sessions showing the start and stop times of each and a toggle with all 3 being on (green). Just toggle off (red) the two that you don't want and you'll be left with the 3rd session only in your data.
AND, welcome and congratulations on your first post!

That's the ticket. And thanks much!

Question about Sleepyhead... Does the leak graph subtract out intentional venting/leak so that theoretically no leaks should be 0? Or does one need to do the math oneself (e.g., Using Swift FX at 10cm, expected leak is around 33l)?

Re: Sleepyhead data question
Is there any way to print the graphic screens other than a screen capture?

Re: Sleepyhead data question
SleepyHead reports whatever the machine reports.SleepingUgly wrote:Question about Sleepyhead... Does the leak graph subtract out intentional venting/leak so that theoretically no leaks should be 0? Or does one need to do the math oneself (e.g., Using Swift FX at 10cm, expected leak is around 33l)?
ResMed machines report only excess leak...so that is what SH reports. Just like ResScan. We can see possible leak of 0.0. because the machine does the subtracting.
Respironics machines report Total leak (including vent rate) and hidden in the machine is a way to get excess leak only reporting but Mark hasn't got that perfected yet.
So for now..with PR S1 machines we have to do our own math. We won't see on the reports any leak of 0.0...

Thanks SH!
I've attached last nights data. Anyone care to comment on the leak chart? I'm not that adept just yet. (no rhyme intended)

Unsure as to status of the print option in SH. It was buggy and I don't know if Mark fixed it yet.Roger2 wrote:Is there any way to print the graphic screens other than a screen capture?
If you can't get it to work from SleepyHead....then there is no other way except doing a screen shot and then printing the saved screen shot..that I know of anyway.

Re: Sleepyhead data question
You have a ResMed machine. It already subtracts the vent rate for your mask before reporting leak so what you see is all excess leak.Zzzzzzzzzzz... wrote:Anyone care to comment on the leak chart? I'm not that adept just yet.
ResMed says that they can handle leaks to 24 L/min...so we try to stay below that amount of leak.
You are new to this therapy..you can easily see that you spent a lot of time near or above that 24 L/min mark.....so you have some significant leaks to work on. Though for a good bit of the night your leak was still under the 24 L/min line.
With time and experience your leak line should stabilize and be reduced. This isn't bad for a first night. I sometimes have almost as bad after nearly 3 years.

Re: Sleepyhead data question
Just hit the print button in the lower righthand corner of the screen and it should print off all your graphs whether in the overview mode or the daily mode. Works fine for me.Pugsy wrote:Unsure as to status of the print option in SH. Thanks b360155! I have been wanting to do that myself and never looked into. Now I don't have too!
Thanks again and thanks Z for asking the question!

Thanks P!
Though this is after a week or so... still playing with pressures, EPR's and Ramps... I might keep this set up for awhile and see what happens. Incidentally, would you guess my leaks are from the mask or my mouth? I was a bit congested last night and used some Olba's oil around the intake- seemed to help but maybe not enough. I'm typically a nose breather at night. And didn't wake up with a really dry mouth this time. Finally, I'm on 3mg of Lunesta during my "break in" period. Hope to reduce that to 2mg soon... and ultimately off it completely. But man, it sure helps.
Thanks for the advice!

Re: Sleepyhead data question
It is really impossible to tell if leaks are from mouth breathing or just nasal pillow movement.Zzzzzzzzzzz... wrote:Incidentally, would you guess my leaks are from the mask or my mouth?
I know that sometimes I do mouth breathe (wake up in the middle of the night with mouth open and dry mouth) but I don't see it on the leak line...no huge increase in leak...so I assumed very short lived mouth breathing.
It is possible that some of those spikes are mouth breathing...after things settle down...especially any congestion issues resolve then re-evaluate the leak line. If you still seem some evidence of prolonged time spent above that 24 L/min mark then you might add a chin strap just to see if it makes any difference. Doesn't have to be store bought...you can do a homemade chin strap to get an idea....something like a wide ace wrap would work.
I don't mouth breathe vary often and I know that sometimes the nasal pillows slip out (I am active sleeper) so sometimes my leak line looks pretty darn ugly and sometimes it looks near perfect. I don't sweat short spikes to large leak territory.
Now if any leak (large or small) is waking you up and disturbing your sleep then it needs to be dealt with because we don't want anything waking us up. Fragmented sleep for any reason will mess with how we feel the next day and thus unwanted.
