May I change my alias?

Post by napstress » Sat Feb 04, 2012 5:02 pm

Is it possible to change my alias on this forum? I would like to manifest feeling well-rested and believe that an alias that reflects that goal might support me in doing so. My current alias reflects what I am about now (a female master of napping), which I do because I am so tired. It also has the word "stress" inside it. I no longer want to affirm either of this things.

If it is possible and permissible to change my "handle," how would I go about it?

And finally, I am open to any ideas people might have for my new name. I would like something that positively supports feeling:
  • Well-rested,
Cool and clear behind my forehead and eyes (which I have only experienced on CPAP therapy),
Like a window in my head (hence, my avatar),
    Not-tired behind my eyes.
Any suggestions?

P.S. I haven't been to this forum in about 6 weeks. I took a 17-day Technology Fast, in which I didn't get on the computer at all—and fell out of the routine of checking in here!
Epworth Sleepiness Scale: 14
Diagnostic study: overall AHI: 0.2 events/hour; overall RDI: 45 events/hour
Titration study: AHI: 6.1; RDI: 27; CPAP pressures: 5-8cm

Not-tired behind my eyes and with a clear, cool head!

Is this a contest? What's the prize?

Lsat - what???

She's asking for help... what is your note about?

Napstress - I'm quite sure you can change your name (your "avatar" is what it's really called) but rather than give you the wrong advice about how to do it on this forum using the control panel, I'd wait for someone else who actually knows for sure what they're doing rather than take my word for the steps - do you still want people to know who you are, who've you've been? Will you use the same picture?

Curious, how did the whole of your being react to the "fast"? Refreshed, cleansed, empty, what? Was the phone included in your fast?

It's getting harder and harder to get away from technology. I even get on the phone network while camping in the mountains of Idaho!

FWIW,
I'm not an English major (not even close ), but I still gave it serious thought to try to help you out. Here's what I came up with:

Brightened Relief
Awakened Lucidity
Refreshed Gaze
Eyeing Clarity

No matter what name you eventually choose, it is your posts that make you special, not your name (alias) or avatar (picture)
Good luck in your search
John

Julie...If you would READ her post, she is asking us to suggest names for her avatar.

It was intended to be funny.

I would call it the "Username". But I don't want to mislead those who think this is about a picture.

Napstress, How about "Clarity"?
I don't know how to change your username, but I hope someone tells us, as I am not as tired as I was when I signed up here.

I don't remember who, but someone just raised this question a week or two ago. Don't know that any clear cut answer was given other than your best bet is to PM Carolynn and she if she can or will do it for you. The other possibility is to just stop using your current ID and register a new one, but your old ID will probably always be shown in small type below your new ID.

Yes, by "alias" I meant "username."

I changed my avatar (picture) a couple of months ago to remind me of the window-in-my-head feeling only CPAP gives me (even though it's only happened 6 times in 7 months), and I will keep it. Couldn't find a picture with someone with a window in their forehead but this one captures the cool, clear feeling. (I used to be an elephant, which appealed to me when I first started because I wanted to help myself feel more comfortable with being on a hose, and I happen to collect elephant figurines, wall hangings, etc.).

Sorry to say, the best I could think of was the affection, appreciation, and unlimited questionable advice of a minimally successful CPAP user!

Thanks 2 Be Sleeping Soundly, DoriC, and Lizi for your suggestions.

Dori, I remember your suggesting I put that phrase in my signature. I got to thinking about that phrase. It reminds me of something a small child would say. Sadly, the sensation of tiredness behind my eyes has been with me for as long as I can remember, even in childhood. I guess it makes sense that my attempts to describe its absence would sound like something a child would say. I hesitate to use that name, though. I've read that the Universe doesn't understand "No" or "Not," so I would be affirming, "Tired behind my eyes."

Thanks, idamntboy, I'll see about PMing Carolynn.
