I just changed my username last week. I just emailed Carolyn and asked her to change it. The link to get to her email is at the bottom of the page. Just click on "The Team". Good luck finding a new username.

Between the changing avatars and now changing names, I'm never going to know who is who!

I agree with SU. You're over-thinking things. I've been a member awhile and I think that Napstress is a cute name. The negative connotations you mentioned never occurred to me.

No, it's not. The username is different from the avatar. Anyone can change their avatar at will, but not their username.

I think if she wants to change her name, she should. My inability to keep straight people's stories even without changing names and avatars shouldn't affect her decision.

Awww, thanks, Jamiswolf!

Thanks, SU. Your point raises another question. I noticed that when people change their avatars, all their old posts get the new avatar. I wonder if that happens when people change their Usernames too. What happened when you changed yours, Pap365? (By the way, I like your new name. Don't know who you used to be, though )

I had to google this to get that Pella is a type of window. But check out what I got from Wikipedia:
"A common folk etymology is traditionally given for the name Pella, ascribing it to a form akin to the Doric Apella, originally meaning a ceremonial location where decisions were made."
If I took that name, I'd be related to our own, loveable DoriC! But the entry went on to say, "However, the local form of Greek was not Doric (...)"

Thanks! Your Avatar is your picture. You can change that on your own and your posts will follow. All old posts will also have your new avatar. If you ask to have your username reset, your old posts, date joined and number of posts will follow. If you simply register with a new user name, you will not be linked to your old posts. I'm adding formerly NewbieinOhio to my signature line so people know who I was/am. Interesting research on Pella.

Napstress,Thank you for saving me from having to ask Chunkyfrog what she was talking about!
Chunkyfrog, please tell me that you got that from Wikipedia too... or do you...just know these things??

Pella is a nationally distributed major brand of windows manufactured in Pella, Iowa. Chunky lives in Nebraska so the name probably floats around in the local news and conversation occasionally. Anyone who does even cursory research into windows, like for new home construction or window upgrade, will undoubtedly run into the Pella name without even looking for it. It's one of those American brands that when mentioned, if met with a blank look, tends to elicit the response, "What? You don't know about them?" But, if you've never had the need nor inclination to research windows, there's good reason for you to not know the name because windows and glass doors is all they do, I believe.

Thanks for the background on the Pella brand. I knew that because we just installed Pella storm doors a few years ago after researching the best ones to buy.$$$. What I didn't know about was the connection I had with Greek mythology and Doric Apella and how Chunky knew that! That info just amazed me although Napstress found it easily enough but I'm still fussing and wondering how Chunky knew!! Chunky, where are you??

I never checked the Wikipedia; but that's kind of cool.
DH installed new windows in 2 houses already--he's so busy for a retired guy.
Some people believe that is you open a book at random,
(religious or just a reference) chance (or the Fates) will lead to to knowlege you need.

So now I've got to know which book? Was it the Bible or the Home Depot Catalog??

OK, I just tried this with three books on different topics, and I'm not enlightened.
