Thought this was English forum.
Thought this was English forum.
At the top of one page i found the following: "10/14/11 Apneas del sueño" Are we expected to understand whatever this is,
or is this forum in universal language mode? I ask because i speak only French, German and English. Not Yoruba. Not Greek.
Only languages of high-tech countries, which is my choice.
If we are in USA could we keep it to English official language?

Re: Thought this was English forum.
Apneas del sueño is Spanish for "sleep apnea."
So, there was a news article written in Spanish that appeared in the "Sleep Apnea and CPAP News" box at upper left of the forum page. So what? The majority of the articles that get listed are in English. Is it such a big deal that an article in another language occasionally shows up there?

By the way, welcome back, Leonbergergirl!
Being a "dog person", I remember getting a chuckle out of what you and Catnap wrote a couple of years ago...

Fortunately, in our house with two Leonbergers who together weigh 325 pounds, we
consider fur one of the major food groups. LOL

Wouldn't it be the possibility that there are other folks beside us english speaking ones who also have sleep apnea?! Just a thought...

By the way, I guess there are quite some Spanish speaking people living in USA?

Blackspinner...I understood that
To the op...there are MANY folks here from other countries on this forum. When they come on the forum with a question or problem and can't express themselves well, we help them out there too. Fortunately for them the population of the U.S. and Canada is made up of all of the other countries in the world, they have either immigrated here or their forefathers have. That being said, many of us can understand a smattering of what is being asked and can help them out....regardless of language.

Re: Thought this was English forum.
Maybe I didn't sleep as well as I thought last night, because I get the impression the OP is a language snob. French - German - English - high-tech countries???
If I can't understand the language I move on to a post that I can, and even some of those in "English" are tough to decipher
Cheers,
xena

In most educated circles, it is generally considered polite when making a statement in a language different from that of the group being addressed to give a translation and if a quote in another language to give the source.
