Thanks rested gal, he's been a great pal. I've never seen a Cardinal in real life, very cool picture.rested gal wrote:The cardinal avatar is a photo I took outside my front door one winter.
That's a beautiful Aussie you're using as your av, Kody.

Complex Sleep Apnea
Re: O.T. Why your Avatar?
I honestly thought Cardinals were everywhere in the US except maybe Hawaii. Then again it just occurred to me I know absolutely nothing about them.
My picture is almost ten years old now. I used it to online date for a few months and then just started using it as my default profile pic for everything. Facebook for example is that pic and always has been. I am just lazy, one less thing to think about. I blame it on sleep apnea.

Mine is an image that I had done years ago. One of the artists from a web comic I read does commissions, so I had him have a go at a forum icon I could use.
It was a HUGE hit with everyone who saw it, so it became my site logo too =) http://www.miketalon.com
Since then, I've used it for most online stuff I do.

Mine was taken in May of 2009. We went to Hawaii to see my granddaughter whose husband was stationed there in the Army. Main reason though was to see our first great grandchild, a great granddaughter who was six months old.

Don't for get the Butterflies!Kody wrote:Since it's a weekend and kind of slow here.
Looking at all the Avatars here I never realized how many Animals are battling with Sleep Apnea. Apparently it effects Dog's and Cat's the most.
However seems to be other animals stricken as well like Deer, Frogs, Eagles, and I think I even saw a Hamster!
My butterfly avatar is a picture I took several years ago when my Pentax K100 SLR was brand new. It was taken at a special exhibit on Live Butterflies at the Smithsonian Institution's National Musuem of Natural History when I was in the DC area visiting relatives. I'm rather proud of the picture. And that's why I picked it as my avatar: I really love this picture and I've never taken a good picture of a Robin, which would have been the obvious choice.

Re: O.T. Why your Avatar?
When I first saw mine (scientists last supper) I couldn't stop laughing for a few minutes. It was either that, a personal picture, the Andromeda Galaxy, my cat, my guitar or the Milky Way with a You Are Here. Hopefully it isn't viewed as offensive (not intended to be).
Re: O.T. Why your Avatar?
Mine is a tribute to the fine men and women that I had the privilege to serve with for first 20+ years of my working life, as we defended our right to be free. When I find an appropriate photo of a Police Officer, I will alternate them to also honor those fine folks that I spent the last 25 years working with, as a Deputy Sheriff.

Mine is a picture of one of the Labs from our last litter of pups. My friend owns him, his name is Bruce. I took the picture at our hunting cabin in Wisconsin, he just looks so darn peaceful... I am hoping that I will soon be able to sleep like him!

I don't have a digital camera, but my college roommate sent me this picture of the toad. Somedays he reminds me of me.

Good question! I've been wondering the same thing. I am reintroducing myself to the forum today. I plan to be around for a while, and my original username was ill-chosen.
I noticed that a lot of people were using animal avatars, so I just followed suit. I am a wildlife rehabilitator so my squirrel avatar was a natural choice because 1) I have a lot of squirrel photos to choose from, 2) Squirrel babies are so lovely to watch when they're sleeping and 3) When awake, they are "bright-eyed and bushy-tailed", something I hope to be some day!

I use a squirrel as my avatar because one day, when my OSA is under control, I hope to be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

I change mine periodically. The current one is of my dog, Honey. She is a four year old Goldendoodle - and has the sweetest personality. We have had her for about four months - got her from a friend who rescued her but couldn't keep her.
