Oh, that was said of Obama? I thought they were referring to W!

my fear is the GOP is once again going to put in another unwinnable candidate . . . (God forbid)....Palin .
Palin talks like a right-wing ditz, but she walks like a left-wing John Wane.

In Alaska, Palin bravely fought the states systemic corruption.

She sided with Democrats to put a huge tax on the oil conglomerates, who previous controlled Alaska like a marionette.

As a result, when most states are in dire deficits, Alaska has a surplus of 12 billion dollars.

From The Atlantic Magazine, a decidedly liberal publication:

The Tragedy of Sarah Palin

"Palin’s achievement was to pull Alaska out of a dire, corrupt, enduring systemic crisis and return it to fiscal health and prosperity when many people believed that such a thing was impossible.

She did this not by hewing to any ideological extreme but by setting a pragmatic course, applying a rigorous practicality to a set of problems that had seemed impervious to solution.

She challenged supposedly inviolable political precepts, and embraced more-nuanced realities: Republicans sometimes must confront powerful business interests; to govern effectively, you have to cooperate with the other side; you sometimes must raise taxes to balance a budget; and doing these things can actually enhance rather than destroy your career, whatever anybody says."

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

"What if history had written a different ending?

What if she had tried to do for the nation what she did for Alaska? The possibility is tantalizing and not hard to imagine.

The week after the Republican convention, Lehman Brothers collapsed, and the whole economy suddenly seemed poised to go down with it.

Palin might have been the torchbearer of reform, a role that would have come naturally.

Everything about her—the aggressiveness, the gift for articulating resentments, her record and even her old allies in Alaska—would once more have been channeled against a foe worth pursuing.

Palin, not Obama, might ultimately have come to represent “Change We Can Believe In.”

What had he done that could possibly compare with how she had faced down special interests in Alaska? "

Well "Cpap lady" is just trying to be one of "the gang", ya know?
She's never posted here before today <wink> but she probably heard this was a good place to discuss politics<wink>
Like her alter ego, she probably already knows all about cpap's, why else would she come here to talk mainly about politics. She's probably some kind of "expert"<wink>

NotMuffy, it's a really cute video (thanks for the link), but I have to tell ya that not every woman carries a LULA AR-15 in her purse, or has a XL 650 in her basement.

Actually I have been lurking here since May since dh and I have had CPAPs which are a godsend. I also posted a a couple of questions as a guest with one of the questions being about it is safe to use a CPAP in a lightning storm

As for posting yesterday, I could not believe what I read some posting about liberals being commies, socialists, liars, etc. It spurred me to post a response since I am a liberal and none of those things. I am tired of hearing that libs have no values and yadda, yadda, yadda.... It is offensive to me since dh and I have strong, old fashioned values. We believe in a country as great as ours that people should not be falling through the cracks.

I also have mixed feelings about politics here since I come here for CPAP info and not to hear the oft repeated lie that President Obama is not an American citizen:(.

ETA: I heard about this forum from a fellow homeschooler so it was not politics that brought me here. See I usually hang out on homeschool message boards.

I don't recall anyone saying that Obama was not an American citizen. I did state that Obama's not a Natural Born US citizen, but I never said Obama's not a citizen. There's a difference. As far as I know, a person would only be concerned with being a NBC if they were running for POTUS as that is one of the qualifications to be POTUS.

Now, this being the case, I do have questions about Obama being adopted by an Indonesian, living in Indonesia for a part of his childhood, then coming back to the States. I understand that to attend the school he attended in Indonesia, one had to be Indonesian. If this is true, when did Obama take back his US citizenship? I don't know, Obama has ALL his records sealed. That includes his grades, admission documents, any papers he's written, and so on. Why have his records sealed unless he has something to hide? I don't know. It's curious though.

Actually you are correct I meant to say that I don't come here to hear that President Obama is not a natural born citizen who is not eligible for the presidency. If that were true it would be a conspiracy 50 years in the making

The main thing I was desiring was for viable small parties, much bigger than our small parties. And I wasn't specific when i said big parties... I was thinking not nearly as big as Dems and Reps. That's my political fantasy. We can all dream, can't we?

CPAP lady,

I am glad you are here this is really a great forum for CPAP help. Please don't let a thread like this discurage you from getting the help you need. We may disagree on politics but that is only a small part of things here.
I do look forward to other post's from you.
