That form you linked explicitly says....
resmed wrote:This product is provided for use by or under the supervision of appropriately trained Physicians. Please confirm that the downloaded software will be used in accordance with this requirement.
So, its not at all clear what point you are trying to score here
I'm not keeping score. Are you?

That bit of CYA says, "by or under the supervision of appropriately trained physicians". It does not say, "only by appropriately trained physicians." It does not say, "only after spending thousands of dollars on polysomnography, even if your symptoms do not indicate anything but simple OSA, and you have no contraindications, because polysomnography is the only way to be sure you won't die of central apnea." Nor does it say, "Don't touch the buttons! Your head might explode!!!"

These are only slightly exaggerated examples of the sort of FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt) spread by many in the industry. And though I wish all CPAP manufacturers would support their end users, I'm glad that Resmed is not contributing to the mythology of deadly CPAP. In contrast to the helpful but FUDy DME, who seemed to think Spirit shouldn't have the software, Resmed makes it available for download explicitly to patients.

It seem to be that the Rescan software is intended for patient use after all , it is included in this package from cpapaust. no bootlegging is involved , so what is all this kerafuffle is about .

Good. Why should people waste their money buying the software when Resmed offers it as a free download? I say again

It's confirmed. Cpap is not recording data. Went to DME today, thier computer system did same exact thing as mine. The rep there said, she has seen a few ResMed machines do the same thing. Most cases water from humidifier causes data malfunction. But pressure from my machine is working fine. So, now I will wait and see sleep doc. Once he downloads corrupt data, he may have clinic supply me a new cpap.

Rep at DME said, most times repairs cost just as much as new cpap. They only carry respironics, and for me to get a loaner cpap, while mine is shipped off for diagnoses. I would need a prescription from a doctor.

So, on the bright side my cpap pressure is working. Nothing, I can do till I visit sleep doc in the future. Thanks to everyone.

Sounds like the SD controller or slot went south.

How long have you had your S8 AutoSet II? It is warrantied for 2 years. And you do NOT need anything from your sleep doctor to have it taken care of under warranty. If your xPAP malfunctions you do NOT need anything from your doctor to get it repaired or replaced. It is your option to pay to have it repaired, which has to be done thru a DME provider, or to replace it. If you opt for replacement THEN you need to get clearance from your insurance or pay out of pocket. Local DME providers do require a new script each year unless your script specified 99 years or lifetime, etc. Your original script is good for life w/online DME providers. That is why we always recommend getting a copy of your script and keeping it on file.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your intent, but you seem to be trying to pick a fight. Thanks for the invitation to joust, but I'm not interested.

In case you are misunderstanding the intent of my words above, I was merely trying to elucidate the point of my earlier post: Resmed is not spreading FUD about the dangers of CPAP.

Of course, it's clearly not in their best interest to do so, but then at first glance, the same would seem to be true of DMEs. I suspect Resmed's primary reason for not supporting end users is that they don't want to pay the necessary support techs. I'm still trying to figure out the motivations of DMEs who insist their customers not participate in their own therapy. It is good that Spirit's DME has gotten past her initial caution in dealing with a patient who is "not supposed to access data" and is being helpful. But why on earth should Spirit not look at his data?

The Resmed S8 Elite is a great CPAP, but WHY do you think that the Resmed S8 AutoSet II is NOT fully data capable??? If you can't access the data via the LCD screen then its just a matter of your local DME provider having locked you out of it - and a SIMPLE matter to get a pdf of the Clinicians Manual and unlock the data.
