cpap-supply.com ???

Post by CrazyDreamGirl » Wed Apr 27, 2011 3:00 pm

Hi Everyone,

I need to buy a machine and I'm planning on buying a new Respironics System One Bi-PAP Auto Bi-Flex with humidifier, which I've been using and which works well. Insurance won't pay for any more coverage and since it's likely I'll have OSA forever, even with weight loss, I want to buy a new machine.

Anyway - the best price I've found is on http://www.cpap-supply.com. I know people have mentioned them in threads. Anyone have any major problems with this company? How is their customer service? If anyone has tried them and found another better company, where did you go? Also, I see there is usually a 2 year warranty on a new machine. I'm wondering how long some of your machines have lasted.

Lots of questions, I know. Thank you so much!

Julia

I bought my Smart Card reader from them and had no problems. Very helpful on the phone and shipped it within 10 minutes of my order for next day delivery so I could read my data the next day.

https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/respi ... iflex.html
Type LOW into product page where it asks for discount code. $1145

https://www.cpap.com/productpage/respir ... ifier.html
$165 same thing with the LOW discount code.

Total price $1310

cpap.com sponsors this forum. Lots of excellent feedback about it from members who have purchased from them.
They will match other cpap suppliers price if you point them to it.

Don't know how this compares to cpap-supply price but you will find lots of members here are quite happy with their purchases from our forum hosts.

I second the above. I shopped around since I was buying out of pocket, and bought two machines from our sponsor. All things being equal, having this forum would have made that decision for me. But I've also found that they answer their phones, they're knowledgable and very responsive. And their prices are also low. So they get my business.

I'm in Irvine, BTW. Howdy, Neighbor.

If money is tight, consider a used machine from secondwindcpap.com. They clean the machines the same way they'd be cleaned in a hospital, and don't sell anything with over 500 hours on it. Selection is limited, but the level of customer service will make you think you somehow went back in time.

Oh yeah: Philips did a revision on the System One CPAPs late last year. The new version is quieter, has a backlit display, and sends a softer-edged pressure pulse to check your airway. This probably applies to the BiPAPs too. Here's a thread on how to tell them apart in case you haven't seen it already.

Whether you buy new or used, you should make sure you're getting the new one if any of the changes matter to you.

Give cpap, com a chance to match other Companies prices. They did for my Intellipap auto set. If you have questions they answer
very fast by e-mail or by phone.

Thank you everyone! And howdy back at ya, Startybartfast. (hope I have that correct!) I'm in the northern part of OC - Yorba Linda.

One thing I can't figure out is what the RemStar means - the machine I'm using does not say "rem-star" on it. Both the link one of you kindly gave me and I got from our sponsor just now have a machine that says "rem-star" on it, so I don't think it's actually the same. Thanks!

Thanks Pugsy and Otter for the links. Otter I looked up http://www.secondwindcpaps.com. They DO have great prices. I don't see my exact machine right now but I just don't know how important that is. It's confusing when there are several (or at least 3) that look exactly alike but have different names or numbers on them. Nothing is ever simple!

"They will match other cpap suppliers price if you point them to it."

Now before I get my head taken off, I have purchased from cpap.com before and probably will again.
BUT, buy from the guy who gives you the price the 1st time, not the one who matches, after you find out he is charging to much!

I think Remstar is a marketing term. Would someone please clarify this for me? Some suppliers use the term and some do not but they point to the same PR System One machine.

http://www.cpapauction.com/auction-list ... ifier.html

The cpapauction might be a good source also. See above link.

Other online suppliers include Remstar in their descriptions too.
http://www.medicaldepartmentstore.com/B ... s-s/44.htm

I think it is just a marketing term. PR System One machines are the newest models. Respironics has used the term Remstar for a long, long time on all their models from the Remstar Legacy and maybe even older than that.
I don't think that there are 2 different PR System one Bipap autos.

Secondwind sometimes lists machines by a less known model number. Mark, the RT who owns that site, would be glad to help you sort out the models and their features. Just be sure to keep asking until you're sure you've got it straight. It's easy to get confused among similar machines with very similar names. This link might help you too:
http://bipaps.respironics.com/ordering.aspx

"Remstar" may indicate a particular Respironics lineage, but it has been put on so many different machines by now that I'm not sure it means anything. The etymology is obvious. "REM" for REM sleep plus the unsupported superlative, "star". But that doesn't really mean anything by itself except that they want you to buy it. All PR System Ones are Remstars, but not all Remstars are System Ones.

No beating from me. Each to their own way of thinking.

$51 difference in price from what I could gather. I would give forum hosts a stab at my business just because they allow this forum to exist and freely allow discussion of prices and other vendors here. Plus I know for a fact that their customer service is good. Other forums have much more rigid controls which I dislike.

I'm with you, Pugsy. Except to resolve CS issues or ask about products the owner actually makes, I don't even post on forums that censor the discussion for commercial reasons. They can write their own ad copy.
