CPAP Cleaning Products on eBay
I hope this is not considered a breach of loyalty to this site. But since I don't believe anything like this is offered here, I don't think it is.
This is a link to someone who has 100% positive feedback on eBay that sells all sorts of easy to use cleaning products for masks, hoses, etc. If you scroll to the bottom of the page, there are other products from this seller listed in the same category.
I cannot endorse how good or bad these are, but I thought I'd put it out there for everyone to investigate. Maybe if someone purchases it, they can add to this thread with their feedback.

Nice find!
I had a similar product that I used for my respirator masks. I am a wood worker (hobby... not work) and I used to monitor lead-based paint and asbestos abatement contracts. Keeping all that stuff clean was a necessity. Having these things convenient made it real easy to always have a nice clean mask.
I also like that this appears to be citrus based. Since I started using all natural finishes on my wood pieces, I've gotten not only a lot of positive feedback, but ESPECIALY for the flutes that I build, I know I'm using safe products that won't hurt people.
Truly a nice find. Thanks for sharing. (I'm buying some a bit later)

Greetings,
Here is the ebay store of the lady selling this product:
http://stores.ebay.com/Tinas-Homecare
In this store she offers several "Stop Snoring Sleep Apnea Chinstraps". Many people do not know what works for Sleep Apnea and what is a gimmick. This means people buy these believing they will IMPROVE their health. However, they are actually taking a deadly serious risk as these products will do nothing for their sleep apnea. If the seller doesn't know this, she's ignorant. If she does, she is immoral. In either case, please don't support her.
On a related note, cpap.com doesn't sell CPAP cleaning products. This is because we have yet to find a product that works as well or is as kind to masks as common, off the shelf, baby shampoo. It is cheaper too.
Perhaps we should start offering baby shampoo?
Johnny

Johnny,
First off, let me just reiterate, I was not endorsing the products, as I said, but was rather putting them out there as I found them on eBay and didn't feel it was wrong to post here since you do not sell cleaning products.
Second, I did go to her store using the link you provided and all she sells for apnea are chin straps and cleaning products. I don't know why you would write, "Many people do not know what works for Sleep Apnea and what is a gimmick. This means people buy these believing they will IMPROVE their health. However, they are actually taking a deadly serious risk as these products will do nothing for their sleep apnea. If the seller doesn't know this, she's ignorant. If she does, she is immoral. I think it's safe to say that what works for one doesn't for another, even with things like the much adored Activa or Breeze, etc. So I can't understand why the chin straps she sells are being viewed as possibly "deadly" or that pose "serious risks" if they do work for someone. Are you familiar with the products she is advertising?
Also, please note that I was not suggesting this link for anyone who wanted a chin strap, but for an easy way to clean their equipment. It is really up to the individual if they choose to use the link OR the product she sells. If it's something that contains a hazardous chemical that you would like to share with us, or a chin strap that perhaps you've heard of that causes damage or injury, I'd be very interested in hearing about that. But I can't see why you are denouncing this woman, calling her ignorant or immoral, unless you know something that you are not telling us.

Lori,
I won't speak for Johnny, but I see his point. The product is titled "Stop Snoring Apnea Chin Strap". While in the description it does say this is for mouth breathers. There is no reference to using it in conjunction with CPAP. The impression one would get, is buy this and you will stop snoring and Apnea, which is a dangerous assumption. While snoring is an indicator it is not the only OSA symptom and someone could learn to keep their mouth closed and still be desatting and have Apnea.
I spent too much on stop snoring snake oil products before I actually went and saw my doctor. (okay less than I have spent on masks, but CPAP is working and they didn't)
The other point he was making is there is nothing that is more effective than low cost baby shampoo. If there was, he would sell it to you in a minute. So why pay a premium to get a cleaner sent to you?

I realize you were talking only about cleaning products, Lori, but I can see why Johnny advises
to not support that seller with any purchase at all.
I looked at her e-bay store. For every chin strap she offers, the product title says:
"Stop Snoring Sleep Apnea Chin Strap"
Perhaps it's just in the way she worded it. Maybe she doesn't really mean to imply that
a chin strap is going to stop sleep apnea. Or that by stopping snoring you are
automatically stopping sleep apnea.
Whether it's just an inadvertently awkward bit of wording or not, coupling those particular hot button
words like that is dangerously misleading, imho.
When I clicked any of the chin straps she offers, the product writeup down below thankfully didn't
mention snoring or sleep apnea. But as long as she uses that phrase in the title of each of her
chinstrap offerings... I agree with Johnny. I wouldn't want to support her by buying even so much as
a simple cleaning product.

Lori, I hope that you can see that something stood out at the website that you and I would probably never even considered. Please keep sharing your ideas, but maybe look at it as though you were participating in a brainstorming session where all ideas are considered and important, even if they are not adapted. Take care and all the best!
There is nothing else to say, Lori. Your intentions were great! You intended only to share good information. Johnny's intentions were great too.
Interleaving great ideas and great intentions is really this message board at its best, don't you think? That's what makes this thread very useful to all of us.
Thanks so much!

Besides, for 50cents one can buy a large bottle of white vinegar that works better than anything else and would be cheaper than even baby shampoo. Everytime I suggest this I get private messages from people thanking me for the idea and telling how it works so well, but for some reason it never gets play here. I will add one footnote in telling it. I have NEVER had to replace an interface using it. I also have NEVER had any sanitary problems nor even had a cold while doing this. If scent is the issue, it goes away in minutes.

Hi, R&R. Nice to see you. I think the smell is wonderful and it does work to make the "rubber" pieces like new. It is a great suggestion.rock and roll wrote:Besides, for 50cents one can buy a large bottle of white vinegar that works better than anything else and would be cheaper than even baby shampoo.
