Does anyone "Talk to their machine" Like I do?

Post by Kahfree » Wed Jan 26, 2011 11:28 am

Last night, I fell asleep just before midnight after I had been lying in the bed for close to an hour. I woke because either I stopped breathing or I coughed, but I woke up just after I fell asleep. So....I was unable to go back to bed and contemplated sleeping without the mask. I even asked my son, who was awake. He had no solution and said "Mom, your still new at this, so just try" I love my kids. Anyway, I lay there holding the mask and debating.

Finally, I sat up, looked at the CPAP on my night stand and said to it. "Hey you, fancy machine that is now my bed partner for life, we need to talk. If we want this relationship to last, we have to do something about it. You have to stop stressing me out when I put you on my face like that of an octopus who has suctioned himself to the wall of a fish tank. Work with me here and I promise to be your best friend for life!"

Yea, I know its silly, but heck, if it works, right? I know the machine does not hear me, but for my own mental needs, it seemed to work last night. I slipped it on, shut off the humidifier, (it was way to hot even at 1) and drifted off to sleep very soon afterwords. I do not remember falling asleep, but worse yet, I am still waking up and removing it and shutting off the machine. I even hung up the mask on my bed post. Yet, I am not aware, so I hope this sleep amnesia goes away soon.

At least I did sleep some with it, for how long, I don't know.

Hang in there, Kahfree....you are VERY new to all of this. I'm smiling because I thought I was the only one who talked to my machine and myself. After ripping off the mask I would lay there telling myself that I could do it and would sleep better because of it, etc. etc. etc. My machine is named "Darth" and I would talk to him too in order to convince myself that I could put the mask on one more time.

The first 6 weeks or so were pretty miserable for me, but then my sleep times extended and things became smoother. You'll get there, one night at a time. There will be good nights, awful nights, and nights in between, but if you keep at it, the overall trend will be positive.

Thanks Weezy....I am glad to know I am I am in good company when talking to the machine. I think I need to give my Premo a name. I will do a little research and come up with something soothing. LOL I just need to do this every night and eventually it will become a habit. Thanks for the encouragement.

If talking to your machine helps you relax and get some sleep then good for you.

But if you ever hear it talk back I'd say that would be a red flag

Yes, I talk to my machine and I have even found myself caressing it.

If it works why not. I remember when I first started I was taking my mask off too. One night I put my mask on and told myself not to take it off. I woke up later that night arguing with myself whether to leave it on or take it off. I had to laugh. I still every once in great awhile take it off in my sleep.

I have dreams that people from here are telling me to keep my mask on, encouraging me, telling me to go back to sleep.

"I" don't see the machine talking back to you as a problem - only as a product enhancement.

I call mine The Alien Baby, sometimes I say things like !!X???!& or ?/$))!!!!# to it. Sometimes I tell my hubby I have to bathe the Alien or than it's time to go to bed with the Alien or that I would like to throw the Alien in the trash
Any landing you walk away from is a good one; if you don't break your airplane it's excellent.

I will pray for you tonight that the machine will help you. God Bless you. You don't deserve this. I promise to pray.

If it helps - I talk to my computer and sewing machines. They get names. They get their "energies" cleared, they get blessed. It may not help them but it helps me. And yes I listen to them if they "talk" to me too.

Traditional peoples believe the objects we use constantly start acquiring our energies and reflecting them back at us. So watch what you send at them.

From what i've been shouting at my computer over the years I'm sure I am going to be screwed regarding the type of energy thats going to be reflected back
