Hmmm... sounds very promising. The Quattro has been the best mask for me so far (I have two drawers full of failed masks) but the sizing concerns me. I use a medium now, it is a bit big nose-to-chin but is barely big enough side to side (I have a a rather round face). The small Quattro was too small. The sizing guide for the FX puts me square on the small size.

I think if the FX sizes run a bit smaller than the original I should probably stick with a medium. And return insurance...

Correct. The Quattro FX sizing guide is not accurate and should be disregarded.

Correct. However, the cushion width of the Quattro FX is marginally wider than a comparable Quattro cushion width .

Buy the Medium.

I use the Mirage Quattro - What I do at night just before bed is turn the bath on hot as hot as I can get it, then I run my mask in the hot water for about 40 secs then take it out shake it out put it on and go to bed. What this does is heat up the rubber and when it cools it creates a better seal to the face for that long nights rest.

Hope this helps someone!

That's not a bad idea, agent Smith! I think I'll give it try too.

When you say the sizing guide should be disregarded, do you mean the plastic tool that they use to measure it? Or do you mean the numbers that Carolyn posted here:

Also, Banned, what size were you in the Quattro? I think the Medium was the right size for me in the Quattro, but it killed my nose so I tried wearing the Large, which was really too long top to bottom, but would hit me higher up on the nose (more toward eyebrows) so that it hurt less. I never succeeded with either. I wonder what size I'd be in the Fx.

Banned, thanks for the description!

I use much the same approach with my Quattro mask. As you note the same approach seems to help the Quatto (with the the FX) to work well. I will probably order this as my next mask. It sure would be great to not wake up with the pad prints in the morning.

I think I'm going to order one. I have to figure out a size. I have a small Quattro, but feels too big. It sits high on my nose and sometimes under my chin. But like someone else mentioned, I wish it was wider--it feels like my face is being pulled back.

I'm going to periodically bump this back up to the first page, as I think more and more people are getting the Quattro FX and will be willing to post feedback on it if they easily find the thread.

Good idea SU! I'm up for a new mask in the next few days, and am going to order a Quattro FX from my DME but want to keep reading reviews on this one.

I have a problem with FF masks being too long, but not wide enough, so this sounds like it might just fit me perfectly.

Thanks for the bump

Hi, I'm new to CPAP, less than two weeks, but I received the Quattro FX from my DME on Wednesday after having the older Mirage Quattro FF mask.

I like the FX much better than the older version, even though it's only been two nights and I don't really know what I'm doing yet. Not having the headgear on the forehead is very liberating and the mask does not dig in to my cheeks. I find I can sleep on my side quite well, too, which is wonderful.

I'm not sure the sizing is right though, even though I have the little 'ruler' thing that was sent with the mask and according to the ruler, I'm a Small. Part of my problem may be that I have worn glasses for decades, and want to wear the mask a bit higher up on my nose than mid-way and have to fight the temptation to push it up while I'm asleep which then breaks the seal. The instructions say the mask is supposed to fit into the 'crease' in a person's chin and no lower. Well, I'm having problems with the silicone stretching when it's on my face and just barely covering my (big) mouth and instead of remaining turned under, the silicone flips up on edge. It still seals that way, but it does cut in a bit. I wonder if a Medium would be a better fit? I have to find out if there's a medium insert or whether I'll have to get an entirely new mask again. Or, maybe that's the way the seal is supposed to be made?

I slept really well last night until at one point when my pressure must have gone up and woke to air whooshing out the top of the mask. The seal was still good, what had happened was the liner had come apart from the plastic mask itself. I could reseat the liner in the mask just by pushing it back in and went back to sleep, but every time my pressure would go up, the liner and mask would separate. But then, I'm a rookie! I tried tightening the straps a bit, but it made it worse. Even after this experience, though, I've had the best rest with this mask.

So, just a complete newbie's take on the mask and any comments are more than welcome! I need all the help I can get.

Thanks for the detailed review, flowergal - some great info.

I have the opposite problem with the lower part of the mouthpiece - it usually fits too low on my face, but I find small sizes are often not wide enough (yeah, I have a big mouth too LOL).

Just got my Quattro FX yesterday and had a good night with the new mask. My previous mask was a medium Quattro Full Face (FF) and the FX in medium was perfect for me.

Here are some observations:
• Woke up with little or no redness on the bridge of nose. With the FF I always had red marks on nose.
• The FX is lighter than the FF .
• The FX appeared to be quieter than the FF.
• The FX exhaust vents seem to disperse the air better than the FF.
• Since the FX sits lower on the nose and I noticed it pushing the nostrils in a bit blocking the air passage a bit. I pushed it back up to alleviate the issue.
• The seal around the top of the nose is fantastic. No leaks into the eyes like on the FF.
• The straps around the cheek bones have underlining hard plastic running thru them so if you do sleep lying on your side it will move the mask around. The straps didn’t hurt and it didn’t bothered me at all just that when you do move your head around on your side the mask might not move in sync.
• I had a couple leaks that I didn’t notice at all so I have to watch that some more.
• It’s nice not having that forehead support. I did not like the FF digging into my forehead every night.

Great review, thanks! When you say the mask moves when you lie on your side, do you think that's the source of the leaks?

I am reporting on my first night with my new Quattro FX. After being measured a small , and trying out both a small and a medium, the DME left with a medium as I was getting some lower cheek leaks with the small. I was really excited to go to bed and try it out. It was comfortable and leak free as I fell asleep. I woke up pretty soon after with leaks everywhere I readjusted things but still had leaks under my eyes. I started out on my back the best position the mask not to leak. I awoke on my side did some adjusting and fell back to sleep but my arm fell asleep trying to hold the mask against my face. I still have hope for this mask. It took me a long time to get used to all of the masks I use. (activa lt, softgel, and swift fx. This one is the most comfortable if I can tweak the leaks. I may have to adjust my hair, as it seemed to pull the top strap of the mask up higher than it should be, close to my eyes. Let me keep trying and I will post again.
