Quattro FX -- Please post feedback on it
I wanted to start one thread in which people would post their experience with the new Quattro Fx. I remember seeing some feedback interspersed in some threads, but I searched for it again and couldn't easily find it. I'm hoping people will post here.
I have a very narrow nose bridge and the Quattro pulverized my nose bridge. I'm hoping people who had this sort of trouble with the Quattro but are now using the Quattro FX can speak to how it differs.
Thanks!

Re: Quattro FX -- Please post feedback on it
I just got mine in the mail today. I use a medium for a quattro and have always had trouble with the seal alongside my nose.
I also ordered a medium for the FX, and it seems to run a bit smaller and fit very well. My Rx is 14cm straight cpap and it seemed to have no trouble holding the seal when I tried moving around from side to back, etc.
I guess we'll see how it goes through the night, but I may have found my new mask!

Re: Quattro FX -- Please post feedback on it
I just picked mine up today! Got home and tried it on. I use a medium Quattro, so I also went with the medium on the FX.
I spent about 30 minutes messing with it and finally took a nap with it. So far, I like it very much. There may be a slight learning curve to figure out the easiest way to put it on and maintain a good seal over on top of my nose. I did sleep well with it once I got it sealed up. I did notice that if you over-tighten it, it will leak pretty bad.
I will report back in a few days with further thoughts on this mask.

I can give you my first night results. I wore my Quattro FX (Medium) after recieving it from cpap.com, yesterday. I wore it the entire night (7 hours) with an Adapt SV (IPAP Min 15). I observed no (zero) known mask leaks during the entire night. This morning my bridge is neither red nor sore. There is no indentation on my forehead.cybergoon wrote:I will report back in a few days with further thoughts on this mask.

Re: Quattro FX -- Please post feedback on it
I tried last night without success. It is leaking at the top of my nose and into my eyes. I am going to have to play around with it some more during "awake" hours. Gave up after 45 minutes and put my regular Quattro on for the remainder of the night.

bump.
Thanks, good discussion, I'm wondering about this mask myself.

Banned, what was your experience with the Quattro?
Cybergoon, please keep us posted!
I am still hoping to hear from people who had nose bridge issues with the Quattro, but were successful with the Quattro FX!

My experience with the Quattro was:SleepingUgly wrote:Banned, what was your experience with the Quattro?
Constant adjustment of the mask to mitigate leaks, every night.
Redness and soreness on my bridge, every morning.
Forehead dent, every morning.
That would be me.SleepingUgly wrote:I am still hoping to hear from people who had nose bridge issues with the Quattro, but were successful with the Quattro FX!
My success with the Quattro FX is because I'm adept at putting the mask on my face correctly. Most problems and complaints with the Quattro FX will come from users who may need more experience putting on the Quattro FX correctly. I knew how to put on the Quattro. It still leaked and created redness and soreness on my bridge.

Re: Quattro FX -- Please post feedback on it
Banned, that's great news! Please post again in a few days or a week and let us know if things are still going well (I hope they will be!).
Is there a trick to it? I saw the video showing the "swing" technique where you put it on your bridge and then swing it down. No more "reseating" of the mask by pulling it away from your face. Anything besides that?Banned wrote:My success with the Quattro FX is because I'm adept at putting the mask on my face correctly.

Yes, there is a trick to it.SleepingUgly wrote: Is there a trick to it? Anything besides that?
To wear the Quattro FX correctly, you need to understand the designer's intent. Think of the Quattro FX as 'Snoopy', WWI Flying Ace, wearing his Leather Helmet. The design of the Quattro FX Head Gear is as important to the success of the user, as the mask itself. The Quattro FX Headgear, when worn properly, will simulate a full leather helmet.
The key to putting on the Quattro FX is:
1) Attach three (3) Head Gear Straps to the mask, leaving one (1) bottom Strap unattached.
2) Throw the Head Gear over the front of the mask.
3) Raise the mask to just above eye-point.
4) Bring the top of the Bridge Cushion Down to rest on the bridge of your nose.
5) Swing the mask down until the Chin Cushion rests in the center of your chin.
6) Throw the Head Gear behind your head.
7) Reach behind your head and and pull the bottom of the Head Gear down to the back of your hair line.
Secure the remaining bottom strap, and happy flying!
To remove, Un-secure one (1) bottom strap, and remove the mask.

The "swing" works even with one of the bottom straps attached?

Yes, because when you Swing, you are only positioning the mask. The head gear has not come into play because the headgear is still in front of the mask. You will always leave one (1) bottom strap attached. There has never been a need to remove both bottom straps to put-on or take-off any Quattro.
