Im 49. Was in the feed store buying mineral supplements for the horses and the cashier said she gave me a 10% discount, I said "wow, thanks a lot, I appreciate that" I thought what a nice saleslady. Walking out the door there was the back of a sign I could see the %01, after walking out the door I read the front of the sign, It said "10% discount for senior citizens on Tuesdays" I thought what an a-hole. Crap, Im 49, must look old? Although I haven't been carded lately either. john

Some young people really can't judge age past 30! And maybe they're afraid to not give everyone remotely over 40 the discount, so give it to all... I wouldn't get upset over that one!

I almost certainly had obstructive sleep apnea through my teens and into college. I remember my sister and dorm mates complaining about my loud snoring and that I would stop breathing. As my sister put it, I snored just like my grandfather. And trust me, that was horrible. Still, I did not address it until I was EXHAUSTED from lack of REM sleep. I started to dream during blinks! Talk about strange.

So, I started using CPAP about 20 years ago at age 34. So, the math is pretty simple, I am now 54. But I was a xPAP user while in my 30s, 40s and 50s. That's a complex answer to a question you thought was pretty straight forward. But as all too often the case, the answer is more complex than the question.

I've moved up a decade since I answered this. And who are the two centenarians?

I am 37. My parents say I snored when I was a baby. I was diagnosed a few years ago but my pressure was drastically incorrectly titrated. My numbers are under control this year because I found a competent doc and got an APAP.

I'm 61, and I've probably had sleep apnea for most of my life. Handling a full-time professional job, raising a child plus all the extras of family life (medical/allergy especially) meant that I never really got enough sleep except possibly on weekends. After all, we working mothers were perpetually sleep deprived, weren't we? I never thought that I was especially tired -- until I woke up from my titration study after about 4 hours of sleep and felt like I could tackle Mt Everest! As they say, you don't really know how sick you've been until you start feeling a little better.

This one has had some real staying power.....I think it will be eligible for the medical journals soon! It's great to be maturing with an apap rather than the alternative.

Yep, it is better to be over-the-hill than under it.

I wonder what the life expectancy is for people with CPAP. Even better those that have it but don't use CPAP. What happened to the caveman peole, back in the days if they had it?

After this 12 page investigation, I must agree about the CPAP Illuminati:

Looks like not many make it into the 70's.
