Sleeping Pillow

Figured I'd better differentiate between head/sleeping pillows and nose pillows...


Has anyone tried one of those hose-head specific pillows? I've seen one shaped like a boomerang and one that looked like a memory foam pillow with side depressions for the mask.

I love to sleep on my side, but it takes SOOO much adjusting (I currently use a mooshable down pillow) to get everything mooshed to where it supports my head but doesn't disrupt my mask.....it seems like I'm spending more time adjusting my pillow than sleeping (I tend to roll over about every hour or so).

Or is this something that just becomes automatic as one becomes more used to life with sleeping machine?

I'm anxious to see if anyone has opinions on this as well. I'm fairly new to xPAP, and have a down-alternative pillow. But, each night I have to fuss with it to get it just right. You are not alone, Weezy!

I bought a pillow with a 'C' cut-out on each side from a mail catalog. It was quite a bit cheaper than others I've seen of the same shape. I'm a side and stomach sleeper, and so far this has worked out great for me. It's firm enough that my head doesn't squoosh the pillow down and defeat the purpose, but it's soft enough to be nice to sleep on.
I didn't want to spend a lot of money until I'd found a shape that would work and messed around with some small pillows I already had at home to find the best shape.

I also have the Regenisis Pillow in the regular size. I keep it about 3/4 filled. Because it is filled with buckwheat hulls,it can be shaped to accomodate your head/mask.

Me too I have the Regenesis pillow.

I love it! I sleep on my back, side, on my stomach and it's so easy to adjust.

Before using it I had a lot of problems with my neck and back let aside the fact that I started using XPAP. But yes although at the beginning I was very reticent to try this new type I can say today that's the best pillow I ever tried.

This pillow last for ever because you can adjust it's size adding more buckwheat if it gets flattened or you can reduce it's size if you like. You can shape it as you want and it takes very little time to get use to it.

I also have a Regnesis buckwheat hull pillow from http://www.pur-sleep.com. I purchased the extra large and I absolutely love it! I am a side sleeper and this provides very good support for my neck, while easily making a spot for my mask/hose. No more fighting with the pushback on my pillow, because with the buckwheat hulls there is no push back! I like it so much that I purchased one for the house and one for the camper.

I've never had a problem moving it around. I take it with me when I travel.

The Pur-Sleep website has this to say about the extra large pillow "This is the Extra Large version of the Regenesis Pillow. It measures 13 x 24 x 4 and holds a whopping six gallons of buckwheat hulls--weighing in at almost seven pounds."

I have loved my double edge PaPillow for the past nearly-two years. Tried and have about 6-7 special pillows in my closet that just didn't work. This pillow was Very firm from the beginning, which actually is exactly what we need for side-sleeping. It does soften over the first 6 months, and is an excellent value over time at its higher price, because it holds the support you need. Does not mush down, so doesn't allow your neck to angle badly, has angles so that that you can move the pillow to accommodate whatever mask you use, and is measured perfectly for rolling from one side to the other. I do like the Regenesis buckwheat pillow, but find I have to fiddle with it through the night to punch the hulls back into a comfortable position. The PaPillow stays steady. It's a really great design. However, its travel model is NOT so great!! (shaped like a boomerang). I just ordered one, and it is not stuffed anywhere close to the firmness of the double edge....so does not give the support you need for side-sleeping, and will also be useless after a very short time. A very expensive mistake for me! Spend the extra bucks for the full version. It's been worth every penny to me, as I cannot believe I will need to replace it for another couple of years at its present performance.

I also have the Regenesis pillow. I got it before the XL was available. Truthfully, I hated it at first. So I put it away for a bit. But eventually I pulled it out again and now I love it. In fact, I just got more hulls delivered so I can fatten it up a bit. I call it my "sandbag". It's not hard to move around when making the bed, but it is heavier than a normal pillow. I turn over alot in the night and it usually just takes a quick adjustment to the pillow, no pushback, and I'm good to go.

I purchased the CPAP Pillow and my leak rate reduced in half . I also find I can sleep on my side or on my back without shuffling my pillow to fit; one of the better purchases I have made. I do use a old very soft pillow case cover so I don't need to wash the cover that came with pillow. It was hard to put back on after washing and I didn't want to ruin my pillow.

I have the Regenesis buckwheat pillow. This is the original one; not the much larger XL version that's now available.

I used the pillow for about 10 months. Over this time, I developed a severe stiff neck and it took me a while to figure out that this was caused by the pillow. I stopped using it about a month ago, returning to use of my old memory foam pillow. My neck is much better now, but I'm still searching for a new pillow. Maybe I'll try a Pappillow.

I was reading this thread with great interest and decided to research for some pricing.
Blew me away when all the links returned with a price of $189. Bit out of my leage at the moment.
One site had a link to make your own. Use 4" thick foam rubber, 16" x 24", use a marking pencil and cut some foam away.
Have not checked the price on the foam as yet, but definitely worth a shot.
