how did you pick your avatar?

Post by elena88 » Thu Oct 07, 2010 10:24 pm

We have had some discussions about this, but some new folks have stumbled in the joint, so lets yak it up again..

Not only how did you come to pick your avatar, but do you feel people view YOU as that avatar?

I know I do.....

I have said.. that Julie is that white cat.. yes, the white cat, I can see this big fluffy white cat driving, checking out at a grocery store,
typing on the computer.. Julie is not human, she is actually truly a white cat..

and Emelia.. look at those blue eyes.. Emeila " sounds" like she looks.. so endearing.... Emelia types with her little paws and I see her big
fluffy tail swtiching about when she finds something really ineresting to read here..

I had my photo up first for a long time, but then one day hospice angel arrived with the most darling avatar..

A polar bear hugging a husky I think.. and it said.. " I haz a teddy wolf"

After I saw that, I went hunting for one in the same vein, and I love it..

Dream on is a lovely view of the ocean from a beautiful ocean bluff..... I can see her sitting on the bench absorbing a gorgeous green flash
sunset and enjoying the end of a summer breeze...

Are you your avatar, even if its mineral, vegetable, or animal, or a lovely view?

I should think my choice of avatar would be obvious.

My tail is switching and my paws are typing!! LOL..... I think we do view our friends on here by their avatars.

When I see that Rooster (Roster) has posted, I know it will be a hoot to read..... more Leghorn than Chanticleer, that's for sure!

Julie is, indeed, a beautiful white cat. TorontoGuy's fall leaves are beautiful and make me think of the North Country in upstate NY where I lived many years ago. BlackSpinner can always be counted on for her sharp wit and that red outfit! And SleepingUgly.... now, there is an Avatar!!

My beautiful Ragdoll cat is my chosen avatar because he is my companion and loyal friend..... seemed only right to have him represent me.
Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.

My mule,Toby and I resting in a meadow during a pleasure ride my wife had taken 16 years ago seemed quite fitting. Hey, we both have ap(paloosa)nea. Come to think of it, he does have breathing difficulty while lying down! Anyone have size XXXXXXXL nasal pillows? jlk

I so enjoy seeing the avatars others choose, and sometimes when a member switches it up it throws me for a bit. In the beginning I had a photo of me that was maybe a year old at the time. Then my health took a nose dive, I went on Prednisone and gained 50 lbs, and I felt the pic was misrepresentation, so I took a pic of me and put a filter on it in Photoshop and it's stayed a while now. I love how glamorous it makes me appear - I know, more false advertising. Anyhow, one day I plan to follow the example of one of our Canadian members and do a before cpap and after cpap picture. Her post was so inspiring. But I am ready to change my avatar. Thinking maybe one of the dog. Something that makes me smile every time I see it. The one intended avatar that got nixed was back during the monkey days (search the board for monkey - well, maybe you shouldn't!), when so many had monkeys representing them. I spent hours merging an adorable preschool picture of me with a cute baby monkey picture. It was NOT cute - I made one ugly little monkey!

jlk - I LOVE your avatar! It's hard to know if the avatars are personal or from stock photos. Now that I know yours is your very own, it's even better.

I love the avatars, and have noticed they do so fit the personalities. I picked my avatar because it looks like pics of me when I was a kid.

My avatar is my darling FairyBinx. This picture was taken as I held her while she slowly went to sleep and crossed over Rainbow Bridge. I loved and still love her dearly. She had such courage while dealing with adrenal gland disease. She never failed to show me love even though I knew she wasn't feeling well. Such strength in such a small bundle of fur. She is missed daily.

I was working on my computer monitor, minding my own business, and the CPAP Police snuck in, and took my picture, and posted it on the web, under the neighborhood watch program. Jim

I like to change my avatar as my life changes.

My present avatar keeps the Komen 3Day
weekend present in my mind.
I'm not ready to let go of that time, yet.

My Avatar is my Avatar. I had just seen the movie and I thought, "I want an Avatar". I don't know if anyone thinks of me as my Avatar... Do you?

I like the Roadrunner. He has a great attitude and doesn't like confrontation. He just steps aside and lets Wylie crash and burn on his own. As a female working in a blue collar, male dominated profession I have found this to be the best way to handle the few ignorant oafs who have given me a bad time. They eventually end up looking like idiots. (Beep - Beep) (Also - I haven't figured out how to get my photo to work ) Hey . . . I was really good on the Apple 2E. Now I just wait 'till one of my sons isn't busy and let them laugh at me.
