HAPPY THANKSGIVING ! ---Turkey Challenge to Mikemoran

Post by LDuyer » Mon Nov 21, 2005 8:13 am

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, FOLKS!

Don't you think this turkey is wearing a cpap nose mask? What brand would this be? Hmm?

And Mikemoran, I want some Thanksgiving/Turkey/CPAP humor from you.
I CHALLENGE you to work your creative prose into something appropriate for us and the holidays. Come on, I know you can do it!

Yes, we're waiting with eager anticipation.
We just know we can expect something quintessentially Mikemoran.

Sigh!

I don't do thanksgiving being that I'm English and we're still struggling to come to terms with the fact that the you lot aren't still part of the Empire

But even so, I had a go imagining what it must be like for you poor colonials ...

Thank goodness! Yes, thank heavens!
That it’s only once a year,
When turkeys on the menu and gets mixed with too much bear!
The end result so painful, the wrong thing’s always said,
The arguments are rising and the relative have fled,
And as the day is over, and the turkey works its way,
With gurglings and with rumblings coz the wine led you astray!
You stagger to your bedroom in the hope that sleep will come,
And it’s off bed to pressurise your head and regret you were so dumb!

Wow, sir_cumference! That's awesome!

I am printing out your poem to give to my brother on Thanksgiving Day. He too has sleep apnea, and just recently his wife was diagnosed with it. They will enjoy your poem, as I do!

Wow. Do you do any other poetry?
I've been taking a stab at it lately, but not as good as this!
Thank you! Wow. (did I say that already?)

Dear Linda of the long words ... (after all you did successfully use 'quintessentially' in a sentence which should receive high praise indeed!)

Thank you for your encouragement re: the poem. To answer your question, no I don't really write poetry, although I have skirted the publishing arena and almost had some things published in the past - but it was not to be

I love writing and playing with words, but never seem to have the time just to play .. except occasionally here.

If CPAP were a person,
A friend who stood close by,
I think that I would punch them,
And poke them in the eye!

If CPAP were a food,
I’m sure it’d bring up hives
And make my sight go blurry
And redden both my eyes!

If CPAP were a holiday
You know that it would rain
The temperature would plummet
And all fun go down the drain

But CPAP is a therapy
High pressure is it’s thing
So we’ll put up with anything
And still its praises sing!

Sigh!

Dear sir_cumference of the magical conceptual words.

My, my, my! Oh god, how nice!
The way you did that! Gosh!

No, I rarely use the long words. But oddly sometimes I will write something and a word that I never use will come to mind. Strange thing. In fact, when this happens, I often get to wondering if I really understood the word and if I was using it properly. So inevitably I go racing for the dictionary to see if I had chosen a word for the right reason. (and I'm happily surprised that I had picked the right word) Again, so strange. And in this case, I have NEVER used quintessential before, but thinking of Mikemoran and his special way of writing, the word oddly popped into my head, screaming at me to use it, even when I thought it was dumb to do so. I swear, I hated typing in that word (thinking it foolish), but I was compelled to do so, against my will. I once wrote a poem and it was like someone else was in my head screaming -- Use "will-o-the-wisp"! Odd term and I was embarrassed to use it, shocked it even popped into my head, for I'd never used or even said it before. Yet it was there. ..... Maybe I need therapy! Ha!

Have you ever written any non-apnea poems or such? Anything you'd like to share? Send me a PM, I'd love to read one, anything.

Linda, your fan

Okay, I was already feeling more pressure than a run away AutoPAP and Sir C just had to turn up the gain. I love his stuff by the way and when I move to poetry feel I am but a shadow to his towering presence. All that said and done I hope you enjoy my literary repast entitled Blowing Up The Bird.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Mike
