Someone broke into our house by smashing the back door ($1500 to repair it) and stole both my laptop and my husband's, our iPods, our cameras including the brand new one that I had just gotten for Christmas and all of my jewelry. They took my grandmother's engagement ring, all of my mother's jewelry that she gave me so that no one would steal it from her when she went to assisted living, and several nice pieces that my husband had given me over the years. I know I'm lucky they didn't hurt the dog, and that he was still there when we got home, but damn I feel violated!

Ruby Vee, I'm so sorry the thieve(s) got so many things that were precious to you. I'm glad they didn't hurt the dog! The strange thing is that we just had the same experience. I wonder if it's a Christmas spree? Did they use the pillow cases off your own bed to put the things in too?

I feel for you. We had a burglary in the home that we put up for sale. We are now in another state. We were told by both the police and the insurance rep to be careful about thieves returning. Thieves wait until insurance pays and people replace the items with new ones and hit again.

Not that this http://www.doorsecuritypro.com/index.html is a total deterrent, but it will stop them from kicking in doors. Windows are still at risk as well as other entry points in a home. We ordered several and found the company great to work with.

We will never keep anything of value in the bedroom again and will continue to use a top of the line safe for ultra valuables (which they didn't get).

Best wishes!
