2. Does the machine, like the PR One, send out puffs of air to test for central apneas? No
3. Can you drain the humidifier in one night on the highest setting? (I like a lot of moisture!)I have not noticed any yet
4. How quiet is it?I've only tried as high as 4.5 and it used a little over half the tank, on auto mode it uses about half a tank
5. Is it really rainout proof? Its umbeleivably quiet
6. Is the heated hose really that much smaller and more flexible? After 5 days I've had none, even with humidity ranging from 20% to 50 % in my bedroom over the past few days
7. How easy is it to refill the humidifier?smaller, a little bit. flexible, nope i think its less flexible due to the heated coils
8. Do the buttons work smoothly and is the plastic of high quality? Its a bit fiddly really, there is a tiny slide latch (i find my self bent over using two hands to open it) and then you remove the tank. actually filling is a bit easier as the fill hole is recessed into the tank so you got some room for spillage if you miss the hole when pouring
9. Does it report and/or treat RERAs?buttons are not as smooth as the S8, you kind of have to slide your finger while pressing. I woke my wife up pushing the dial button down during the night
10. Does the LCD report flow limitations or do you need the software to see this?[/quote]PASS
No, you need the newer ResScan 3.10 software

+1 Great review. I definitely have no problem running RS 3.10 in Parallels, but sadly need to go buy a SDHC reader for my MacBook Pro. It won't go to waste though as my new camera could use it too instead of direct connection.DreamOn wrote:Thanks for the very helpful and detailed review!

Do some reading here on the S9. No machine is perfect so you can find some negatives for the S9. But It seems to be very well received on this forum and represents state of the art in auto-cpap. The ResScan software (3.10 or 3.11) required for the S9 is not available for sale from a DME--so I suppose that could result in complaints of sorts. But if you get an S9 and then come here, I'm sure you will find what you need in terms of software. I am not one of the forum experts but as far as I am concerned it is great software for a great machine. Then look at some of the many threads on the poor service through many DMEs and the "tricks" they resort to for the sake of their own profit. If you do some reading I think you'll realize that you had the answer within your question (hint, hint I added the "bold" in quoting your question.Anfield8 wrote:We went to the DME today (newly diagnosed), they didn't want to give us an S9 Autoset as the tech said they had been having complaints about the humidifier/software. Has anyone heard of these problems...or any we just being pushed into a different machine because of the cost? Thanks for your help.
