NotMuffy and ozij both have valid points, IMO.

My take is that OSA is not an excuse for irritability and that it does not necessarily present special social needs, but I agree that OSA may explain some irritability and that this forum may be a useful tool for meeting some social needs of OSA patients.

My failed attempt to join the witty banter was my way of pointing out that overgeneralizing any patient segment can lead to assumptions based on statistical associations that are not valid for assigning causation.

Or put another way, this forum is a great place, you do a great job, people are people, and it is nice that discussions like these, where opinions vary greatly, go so smoothly here, relatively speaking.

One thing we all have in common is the lack of sleep caused by Sleep Apnea, and with that lack of sleep for some irritability.

I strongly disagree. If that were true, then that would mean that no one is/has been/can be successfully treated.

You may disagree all you like, that is your prerogative! What I do know as fact is that I have been successfully treated for sleep apnea for over 20 years and even at that there are days where the therapy was less effective than others. Maybe a stuffy head or some other stimuli caused a less than perfect night sleep and from that sleeplessness comes a much shorter fuse. I have many nights where my AHI was less than 1.5 and still woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

CPAP should be about OSA nad some OT topics but to go as far as making it into your own topics about BJ'S , lesbians, etc. is so off topic that alot of us find it offensive.

But I find bigotry very offensive so we do need a category for morons and bigots after all.

Am I a bigot because I live in Queens N.Y. or that I am a straight white female? I have my opinions and you may not agree but I have some respect for people who don't want to hear about somebody's sex life or lack of it, whether they be gay or straight. Call me what you want, I live in Archie Bunker's Boro, so I have been called it all. I guess we come from different backrounds. I was brought up where what happened in your bedroom was your own personal business and foul mouth was inappropiate. I don't kiss and tell nor do I use foul language in a situation where somebody might not appreciate it.

I know exactly what you mean! I heard about a thread that some nut job started to find a boyfriend for another forum member. 68 pages of drivel! In the end, the member was still without boyfriend, and had alternately crushed on and been crushed by the OP, who all the while was utterly clueless as to what she'd done to deserve either!

Then, there was a thread started about quotes. It's already on page 4, and not a one of the quotes has to do with apnea, CPAP, hoses, or even a good blow job joke.

So you heard about this? Was it not you that started these threads?

I like the idea of topics. I think this is the only forum I frequent that doesn't have them. Just keeps things organized, and I come here for information myself, so it would be nice to parse things out quickly. Just my two cents.

Who among you would like to volunteer to moderate and make sure that only what belongs in a certain category is posted there. This is a time consuming and thankless job, which would create a lot of animosity and the bickering would make this place like other forums that I have visited and never found the personality that is projected here. The uniqueness of this place, the individualism of the people who post, and the level in which they want to provide assistance to those who ask for it is unparalleled anywhere that I have been.

If I remember correctly, ozij has extensive experience being a moderator.

Additionally, I would bet that almost all of those who endorse categorization would be more than happy to volunteer as moderators.

Curious why people think having a couple categories requires moderation any more extensive than we have now.
