aussie hose issues

Post by ciounoi » Mon Aug 02, 2010 3:10 am

Hi,

I bought an Aussie heated hose a little under a year ago and it has worked beautifully up until a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, it seems to have stopped heating the air a few weeks ago. The hose no longer feels warm to the touch. I considered that it could be the heat from the bipap as well, but I do feel that working. Is this a common problem? Is it able to be fixed? Anyone have any common experiences?

Thanks,
ciounoi

In addition to OSA, I also order up random food I don't like while I'm asleep.

To double check the hose, lay a section on the bed under a pillow and see if there is heat felt after a few minutes.
I had a power supply die so went to radio shack and got a 12V 1 Amp power and the proper plug to fit the hose socket.
It is more likely to be the supply than the hose since the hose has a solid piece of heating wire wound around it.
One other possibility is the receptacle the hose supply is plugged into. Are there other things working from that socket?
Try changing the specific socket that the supply is plugged into. I had a socket on a surge protector fail.

Good luck,
TerryB

We've had several reports of the the Aussie hose dying. Cheaper than these expensive heated hoses is the Repti cable and for added control, the Repti Rheostat. $30 for those, and you can use them with any of your hoses.

I've had mine for over three years and still working great. As someone else suggested, if you haven't already, I would first check the outlet to make sure it's working, and then check with Radio Shack about a new power supply and connector. Not being an electrician and having lived through a fire many, many years ago, I tend to stay away from messing with anything electrical that's off the main use for it, so I have never tried the Repti cable and never will. But others here seem to have had success going that route, so that might be an option as well.

Thanks a lot for the replies! Since I recently took my hose with me on a hotel stay and had the same issues, I think it's a power supply problem. I'll take it to RadioShack this weekend and see what they can do for me.

What is the warranty for the hose? Seems like it should be guaranteed for at least one year...
