Does anyone drink on c-pap?

I have a drink or two (beer, wine or wine cooler) probably 5 nights out of 7 and never found any problem because of it. I see no difference between nights I have a drink and nights I don't.

Because of Athritis meds, I have to be careful about drinking but I do enjoy a Scotch about once a week. Wine with dinner a time or 2 a week is also something I enjoy and a nice cold beer in the summer.

Because of the meds I am on I limit myself to a couple of drinks a week. If there is a special occasion in the week, maybe one more. Rarely do I have more than 1 drink at a time.

I do not find that it affects my cpap therapy at all after almost 8 years on cpap. I do not drink within a couple of hours before bedtime though.

I also need to be careful about drinking too much, but have spoken with my doctor about it. He agrees that as long as it's not more than one or two, there isn't a problem with it. And we both chuckled because since I can't walk very well sober, it's not a good idea for me to get drunk!!

I have a drink or two some nights with dinner. I find my numbers are the same whether I have a drink or not. I don't think 1 or 2 drinks will affect your therapy.

Yep MASK OFF First As the post verifies, you do not have to over imbibe to have problems.

OT Similar issues with oxygen masks while flying at high "G" loads and in "unusual attitudes"

Motion sickness is no fun either!

There was a night a few weeks ago that I was really sick to my stomach. The possibility that I might get sick seemed pretty likely and I wouldn't even put the mask on until I was reasonably sure it wouldn't happen.

I've had a problem with upset stomachs lately and that's one of the reasons I frequently have a beer -- it calms my stomach. Weird, but I've heard a lot of people say that beer can calm a nauseous stomach.

Hav'n a beer right know. Usually a couple of fairly good sized glasses of wine. Doesn't bother my numbers on cpap.

Sometimes I have a couple of adult beverages, sometimes I don't. I've tracked my numbers and it appears to have zero effect on my therapy. I think I"ll celebrate this knowledge by having a drink!

Like everything in life, drinking is fine with moderation. If you're on medication that says "don't drink alcohol" then it's advisable not to drink. Having, 1, 2 or 3 drinks a night isn't much of a problem. If your Sleep Apnea is Obstructive more than Central, then obviously the soft palet will relax more with the more alcohol that you drink, and if you don't drink regularly then start drinking regularly you may see some increase in your AHI figures, but it really depends how blotto you get.

I wouldn't suggest anyone goes and gets paraletic, e.g. 8+ pints of beer, but moderate drinking should be fine, you just need to know that the more you drink the more potentially your Apneas will increase and you might not have quite a good night as normal. However, the machine if set at the right pressure, or if you have an APAP will adapt and increase the pressure to still try to reduce/keep the Apneas at bay.

For me, I have only about 3 beers in the five day week when I'm working but have a few more at the weekends.

AHI and Runs the lowest it's been in a while

But I didn't feel well rested when I woke up. (I think it really aggravated the reflux!)

Will continue the "research" tonight.

Acid reflux and indigestion is another sign of over drinking/eating. Always best where possible not to eat or drink before going to bed
