Wonderful Homemade Soap by a cpaptalk Member

Post by scrapper » Thu Mar 25, 2010 6:46 pm

Recently I received a bar of homemade soap from a fellow cpaptalk member who I exchanged an unused mask with--what a great treat and added bonus............unfortunately didn't keep the member's original email to tell you his name. Hopefully he will chime in!

The homemade soap is absolutely wonderful..........I love it on my skin, and I love the way I can easily clean my mask and it seals! It's totally fragrance free. From his website at http://www.tracystruesoaps.com, I quote:
All of my soap is cold-processed, and made from scratch with pure all-vegetable ingredients. My soap contains no animal fats, chemical preservatives / hardeners, or added scents / perfumes to irritate your skin. My soap contains only what results from the old-fashioned soapmaking process, which is 75% pure, natural soap and 25% pure, natural glycerine (your skin's best friend).
If you're looking for an excellent, "green" soap product......please check out Tracy's website.

Thanks for the endorsement scrapper!

Homemade/handmade soap is all I ever wash my mask silicone/seals with. It gets all the facial oils off well, yet I don't get that dried-out ashy appearance like when I have used detergents (aka Dawn). Anything not silicone I soak with denture tabs in warm water (tubing almost nightly to get that fresh fragrance as I go to sleep ... sighs). Again, thanks for the compliment.

Home made soaps are so great. I will have to check out your website. My cousin in NH sent me some home made soaps from a place up there. How nice they were. It comes to mind that a lot of us have small businesses and it might be great to list our businesses somewhere. I do think it violates the TOS here to list commercial websites though. I am a cruise consultant and would love to organize a group from those in here that are interested in doing so. I have contacted the admins as to this but have heard nothing from them I would not attempt to do so without their permission. I also run a small cruise related forum that has nothing commercial on it. Just a little forum where we all go to say hello and chit chat. We have formed group cruises among ourselves and as a result have become great friends.

I'm sorry. This original post/thread was unsolicited. I don't know if it violated anything, but I apologize if it did.

BTW - I see you're from Lakeland, Laura. We used to go through there all the time when we kept year-round passes to Busch Gardens and Sea World, as it was right in the middle of Tampa and Orlando on I-4 I believe.

It is different to press ones website on every one then someone providing a link to a site that has products that worked really well for them.

ETA: maybe we need a thread or wiki page where we can post our products and web pages with out people thinking we are spammers. I know that I prefer to order things from people I know about and I have had orders from people for the same reason.

I might be the original troublemaker here as far as potentially violating policy.......but we've discussed soap and washing our masks etc so many times....and the soap here is good. Don't lose sight of my intentions of passing along a great product in the discussion of what's legal and what's not........ It's certainly better than flaming someone

Anyone with a website can put it in their profile and the icon will show when they post. Some have made mention in their signature line. There's a difference between hawking goods by replying to every post with a suggestion to use their product, and making information available. For cpap related goods, there's always cpapauction for those who feel it may be advantageous.

Hi Again! Oh dear as usual I have put things wrong and my intent came out the wrong way. I agree that to list links to our own businesses is not a violation of the TOS. I think an area provided for us to list out personal businesses would be cool. So many people have really interesting small businesses. I meant that if I was to propose a group cruise to all of you and posted a link to my business that I would be in violation of the TOS. I tried to do contact the owner of the site for me to do things the right way as to proposing a group for us. I have heard nothing from admin at all. I also have a small but very friendly forum where there is nothing commercial and I welcome people to come in and visit. Most of us there are good friends now but we all met because of our common love for cruise vacations. As here we have all come together in our need for c-pap. Support groups are very important. It is great to have someone there to lean on. I have learned a lot about my therapy since coming here. Most of the members know a lot more than I do.
I apologize for any confusion I have caused. I truly meant no harm or hurt to anyone.

Laura

I have horrid allergies. A few years ago, I made my own soap so that I could control what was being put in it. So much better for your skin.

OceanGoingGal - No worries Sweetie. I was not offended or anything, I promise. And I don't think you said anything wrong. I just did not know if a faux pas had been made and hoped no one would be sore with "me" lol. I love cruises too by the way, although I have only been on two - one when 18 for a senior trip and one two years ago for our 20th anniversary. My wife and I both cannot wait to go again (just a lot of $).

Mikosiko - Thanks so much. I got your email and have sent a reply. Thanks again.

sleepycarol - I know what you mean about allergies (especially skin ones). That was a major thing that prompted me to make our own soap. As an example of my skin allergies, I will offer the following. I am not allergic to peanuts, as far as eating them, and eat peanut putter, roasted peanuts, you name it. But, when the peanut harvest is going on around here (and I live in the peanut capital of the world .. with a local "Peanut Festival" every year) and the dust is in the air, I will sometimes get big wheals/whelps on my skin, particularly on my face, neck, and scalp. That just seems kind of weird when I can eat them with no problems, and have no respiratory problems from the dust (any more than any other airborne allergen would cause).

Thank you for your reply. I feel better now. As for cruising. I was in love with it since the first sight of "MY" ship back in 1983. I paid more for my first two cruises way back then than I have ever paid since. In view of the fact that a cruise all inclusive I find it to be the best value in travel. I am cruising in September and paid less than $500 for the 7 day cruise. I know that is a lot cheaper than a 7 day stay at a resort in this area.

You are right I am right between Orlando and Tampa. I love having the best of both areas nearby. So much going on all the time to choose from. Of course as an avid cruiser I really enjoy the convenience to the ports at Tampa and Port Canaveral. Of course for a little more drive time I can reach all the other Florida ports too.
