I'm interested, but cautious. Because my S8 works so well, I want to be sure that the S9 would be an improvement in therapy. The climate control interests me, because right now, I have to tweak so much, with changing temperature and humidity. And the built in oximeter would be nice, but only if it's affordable.

Oh, I'm interested alright:
  • Climate control
    New algorithm
    Quieter motor
Possibly better reporting of various breathing events
    .
But, I would have to live with it, and use it:
  • What use is it to me not to see AI and HI breakdowns on the screen?
How in the world will I use it when the hose comes out of the back -- and I keep my machine in a drawer? Will I need a longer hose?
    How "jigglable" is the humidifier?
Where is the handle, to make sure I won't tip the machine the wrong way and spill water into it?
And a wondering, that can only be resloved by experiencing the therapy: How will the forced low amplitude air puffs feel when they try to distinguish a central apnea.

YES! ME TOO! That "puff" be it ever so gentle, in the transition from IPAP to EPAP w/my VPAP Auto in Spontaneous mode drove me to distraction! I HAVE to run my VPAP Auto in Auto mode for the EasyBreathe technology.

I am not certain about this (it may be performed every breath but I doubt it), but from the best I can tell, the FOT pulsing is only performed if the machine detects flow slowing (hypop or apnea), then it tries to determine if it is an open airway apnea.

Also am pretty sure the 'puff' you are mentioning is not FOT (wasn't released on that model).

Cheers

I share your concern, In Arizona temps and humidity levels vary so much its tough to keep up. Bring on climate control

I didn't mean to imply it was the same, dsm. Just that a "puff" makes me leery. I had my share of "puff" in Spontaneous mode. I can't guarantee that those "puffs" woke me up once I got to sleep - but I'm inclined to think that they did, in fact, disturb my sleep. No proof, of course. You KNOW I have loved my Resmeds, at least my S8s and my S8 1/2 *wicked grin* as I call my VPAP Auto. And frankly, I don't see anything out there better than the S8s. The hose to the front works out well for my set up on the nightstand, the LCD screen is convenient to view from bed, altho not as convenient as it would be if presented veritically, the humidifier knob for adjustment is convenient and it is so easy to assemble and disassemble when staying in a different motel each night when traveling. I traveled ONCE w/that Respironics pre-M Series. What a PITA! Did I mention I HATE that power brick???

Slinky,

There ain't no way I would travel with an S9

I am looking forward to buying a Vpap 25 Auto or an S8 Autoset II off some disgruntled owner who wants to trade up
I know just how nice it is to travel with an S8 (I sold my S8 Spirit when I knew the S9 was close to being announced - got a good price for it & don't expect to pay much more for a later S8 II )

Cheers

I guess I'm just disappointed, dsm. So excited about the new technology - and then the reality of the "physicality", I guess. And the promotional aspect, promoting all the wrong things about the S9, or at least stressing all the wrong things - from the end-users' standpoint. I just feel kinda let-down by Resmed. *sigh*

I told ya Slinky, kick the hot shot West coast ad agency that dreamed that stuff up.

And as I said in that other thread, you can go to Apple's web site & view their promotional videos for the new iPad & if you see a very very similar style, you might be able to guess where Resmed's video came from

The S8s are the epitome of set up and take down when traveling. The epitome of ease of access to and amount of data available via the LCD screen. The epitome of access to changing therapy settings. Viva the S8s!!!! KISS - keep it simple, stupid! Three components. Simple!

I'm hearing that the new S9 power brick is incompatible with airline power supplies which will no doubt make it less desirable for some.
