Usually has hangover effect next day.

If used every day will soon become ineffective but hangover effect will remain.

Occasional use will not do much damage.

The absolute best thing about occasional use of the "pams" is the nights you don't use it, but you can relax and sleep because you know it is there if you do need it.

Footnote: Pams - lorazepam, diazepam and flurazepam.

Excellent advice as always. Since we have a number of folks with Central Sleep Apnea (CSA), I would make the one caution that anyone with CSA should discuss a central nervous system depressant with their doctor BEFORE taking it. Even benedryl can increase CSA events. But that's the odd exception to Rooster's great advice.
