Repti Heated Cable

Post by alhebert » Tue Jan 19, 2010 5:17 am

Exactly how to you use, attach, setup the Repti Heated Cable to stop rainout? Is there a specific wattage to purchase to prevent overheating the 6 ft. hose attaching the cpap machine and mask? Is overheating or melting that hose a legitimate concern? Thanks for any help and advice.

I have used the repti cable for over a year now. I do not remember the wattage but it lays long ways under my hose cover and it works like a charm. I love it. No problems at all execpt for remembering to un plug on occasion.

I thought I had posted this somewhere on here...but maybe its only on another site....

Here's my setup

Here's where the end of the heated portion comes out...

Here's the humidifier end, the table top lamp timer is how I turn it on and off....it is programmed with just an off time, so if I forget to turn it off in the morning...it'll do it for me:

The Humidifier & CPAP are plugged into a different backup powersource, the one in the background runs a fan that is mainly for noise....and a few other things like cordless phone.

Here's a shot of the whole thing....

An ordinary lamp dimmer can be used to control power to the heater.

No....its a spin on being labeled a dreamer. (and being a big Doctor Who fan) I don't know why people think being one is such a horrible thing. But, its been >30 years, and they still tell parents that their kid is trouble because their a dreamer.....

Of course, now that I'm here...I wonder if my sleep apnea had been there all this time....but some ignorant teacher told my parents something that gave them permission to beat me for being different.

...though these days they give the kids drugs.

Which is something my doctor has brought up as a possibility for me now.

Guess I'll find out after the "Sleep Deprived EEG for Narcolepsy" (at least that's what he said I was) on the 27th.

The Dreamer.

It sure would be helpful if someone explained the how's and what's. I know you all think you are answering my questions but I really don't understand these setups. How do you purchase the Repti Heated Cable in terms of wattage? How do you connect it? What are these attachments, like timers. etc. Please be specific so I can understand how to connect the various things. I am asking specific questions and would like specific answers because I read somewhere from a guy who says he burned his cpap hose with a heated cable and I don't want to end up doing the same thing. Thanks a lot.

If you search the forum you will find very useful information in the reptile cord and how to use it properly. Personally I would go for the Aussie Heated hose. Either method is going to work, however I personally chose an off the shelf product. Aussie heated hose is a company in Australia that sells a heated hose specifically for CPAP devices and they are certified for use (electrically, etc).

I found it by using Google.

There are a lot of topics to sift through in the link below, alhebert, but you might find answers to some of your questions in the topics that mention the Repti heat cable:
