Respironics Software

Post by Bear100 » Mon Dec 21, 2009 10:23 am

I just got my new REMstar Pro CFlex + with Humidifer. It replaces my 10 year old Respironics brick. Now it seems like an early X-Mas, quite, compact, easy to operate! Thanks for the advice on purchasing, while my Doctor was very helpful and the insurance would pay 50%, I had a difficult time with getting a reasonable DME. I actually went through 4 untill I got one that was responsive, priced reasonable, and had a good selection of machines and masks. You all made me comfortable to expect all that in a DME. By the way I got a CFlex instead of the Auto for two reasons: cost, and my pressure has not changed in 10+ years.

I want to get going and see my data. The machine uses an SD Card (no card reader needed!!). But I have a few questions:
- My PC and the PCs in the home are x64 bit, I understand that the Respironics software does not work with x64?
- The software is at best another $135 at CPAP.Com, and more at my DME. Are you kidding, how can they be charging this for software so simple? An other place to find it cheaper?
- Is there a good guide to interpretating the data. I do not mean what an AHI is (as an example) but at what level should I be concerned, and what actions to take?

Thanks - Bear100

DO NOT BUY ANY SOFTWARE. The software for the new PR ONE, which is the machine you are describing, is not available to patients yet.

If you have an SD card in your machine, you do not have an M Series unit, and cannot use the Encore Pro software being sold by cpap.com.

You may just have to rely on your DME or doctor to read your SD card until software becomes available to patients.

Good luck!
Barbara

I heard a rumor that you can buy the new software IF you have a 'script for it? Can anyone confirm or deny?

Thanks for the tip - I always check her first.

Kind of strange in the information age to sell a product with one of the features is the information that you can get from it, and yet not have the software ready for sale. A quick call to the doctor and they can't read the SD Card based machines yet. They did not know if they just haven't ordered the software or if it is not yet available.

I checked the Respironics web site and it has no additional information.

Thanks - Bear100

I was looking into maybe getting a PR ONE; however, with no patient-usable software, I would never consider doing so.

Talked to the technician at the Doctors office, they will 'loan' me the software as soon as they get it. They are frustrated with this as well. The Doctor believes that the more the patients know about their sleep, the better they can manage their sleep.

Ah wonderful! Will you 'loan' to to me as well just for a few minutes so I can download my data when you get it??

That's all everyone on here has been waiting for is someone to loan them a copy so we can all have the new version. Someone will eventually get a copy and make an image file to go on a disk for installation.

Went to my local Respironics office today with credit card in hand.

Response? Sorry, not yet available. Expected in first quarter of 2010.

I think I heard that it was called, or would be called, Encore Pro 2. I'm not certain about that though.

Encore Pro 2.1 is the doctors version, and its already out there. I had a very kind person read my data for me on my PR System one using it. It was fun to see the reports, but I have to admit, it made me want the software even more.

So, yeah, its out there. people have it.. but its not really "out in the wild" so to speak.
