I haven't named the machine, but have come to think of the process as "Becoming BORG." I suppose that would make everyone here the "Collective." (RG-I guess that makes you the Queen.)

A way out here they have a name
For rain and wind and fire.
The rain is "Tess",
The fire "Joe",
And they call the wind "Mariah".

Mariah blows the stars around
And sends the clouds a flyin'.
Mariah makes the mountains sound
Like folk was up there dyin'.

[chorus]
Mariah! Mariah!
They call the wind Mariah.

(This was from memory; one of my favorite movies: "Paint Your Wagon").

I have actually named my CPAP machine. I call him "HAL" after the computer in "2001 A Space Odyssey." My HAL runs my life much like the movie HAL ran David's. Hopefully, my HAL won't turn on me the way David's did!!!

Great movie WAF but you forgot to include the next verse -

Mariah blows thru the hose
To stop the sleeper dyin'
Mariah's wind gets up your nose
Changin' snores to sighin'

Lyn ... wonderful!

Lori, I could sing that song and many others from the movie. "I ... was born ... under a wonderin' star". "Where am I goin' I don't know. When will we be there I ain't certain, All I know is I am on my way."

Dew, HAL didn't turn on David, it just followed its programming. It was human error in the instructions that had been programmed into it!

Bill,

I haven't really seen the movie in years - just remember parts of it. So, if HAL didn't turn on David and it was just human error then I could be in BIG trouble!!!LOL HAL has been pretty good to me so far. So I will keep my fingers crossed.

I never name something I might have to throw against a wall. So my CPAP and alarm clock will remain nameless.
That's about my same reaction, I don't know how many times that I have woke up and thrown the face mask before I got the one that I have now, across the room, I haven't thrown an alarm clock in years because (she who must be obeyed) has it on her side of the bed and I can't get at it.
This thread is hilarious! Sure glad I'm not the only one who's thrown the mask LOL

Shamu it is [/quote]

I have several names for my 420E. They mostly start with "mother", "piece of" or "son of"

As for my masks, they are and will remain nameless......but often cursed! Especially in the wee hours of the morning!

This therapy WORKS!!!

How about Pappy, since it's a positive airway pressure machine and it takes care of you like your own "pappy" would, looking out for your welfare? Yes, a bit hillbilly-ish, but kind of fits the bill, no?
