I feel like my APAP machine has given me a second chance at having a life. The person who gave me my first chance at life was my mom (well, dad helped, too), so I'm gonna call my machine "MOM".

But since I go to bed with it every night, I'll have to work on being sure I don't develop an Oedipus complex.

SNM,

You could call it what my girlfriend's daughter calls me, "Mommy 2." She always looked at me like her second mother and even though she's a mommy now, she still calls me "Mommy 2."

Oh my, this message thread left me in stiches. Haven't even thought about a name for it yet...everybody just has a name for me when I'm wearing my mask. They call me "Darth". I too have many not so nice names for my masks at times. I really do like some of the names written in this post, so who knows...may have to adopt one of them.

I call my the "Ole Ball and Chain". Funny thing is, my wife doesn't appreciate it much.

Oddly enough I named my CPAP as soon as I got it home. Three years later I'm still sleeping with "Pat" every night.

Pat was the sexually ambiguous character on Saturday Night Live. Everyone was always trying to pin down the real gender of the character.

I figure if I'm sleeping with something other than my wife every night, just to be safe, it had better be "Pat".

Did anyone EVER figure out if Pat was a man or a woman? LOL regarding naming your machine that and your reasoning behind it.

Yes, Pat WAS eventually "outed" by Julia Sweeney, who played Pat on SNL...

"Julia Sweeney recently admitted that Pat is a woman. This admission stems from a skit with Harvey Keitel in which their two characters, both of dubious sexual provenance, share a kiss. Julia Sweeney reflexively tilted her head to receive the kiss in the receptive, feminine direction. This was not caught at the time, but rather brought to Sweeney's attention a couple of years after the fact. The admission was wholly inadvertent. Sweeney normally scrutinized such details in her performances as Pat; she expressed disappointment that she had allowed this to slip. This was the only such "tell" of which she was aware, but nevertheless accepted that this made Pat a woman."

Wow, thanks for that detailed and informative explanation. I noticed quotes, so I am presuming you took that from some article you read? You've put the question to bed, so to speak, finally for me. I hadn't really given it much thought lately, but when you brought it up, it made me wonder if there was ever a conclusion to the mystery. I guess there was. Thanks for sharing.

So after my first night on the S8 Vantage I have decided to name it Gusty. The revered is how I feel and I like the sound of it
The name might change down the road though, hehehe!
