Need help with a Older machine

Post by Not Sleeping in NJ » Mon Aug 24, 2009 4:29 pm

I have a Remstar Lite, I know it is a older machine but will have to do for now. Being unemployed does not allow me to buy a new one at this point.
The machine works well. The problem that I have is the ramp start cfm. The machine is currently set for 4 cfm at ramp start and I am finding this a bit low. I know how to get the machine into "Therapy setup menu" but see no adjustment for Ramp set up.
Does anyone know if there is a ramp adjustment.

I don't know if there is a way to change the ramp on that model but there should be a way to turn the ramp off....

I found out I like it better with the ramp off and don't it use it all anymore........

The figures seen in the adjustments are time and/or pressure in centimeters of water column. From years of reading this forum, the majority find 4 cm pressure too low to be comfortable. On my auto machine, the ramp pressure value is the last adjustable value shown in the setup. Try moving through the setup values and making a list of everything you see on the display. Words or abreviations are variable names, numbers are values. On my machine, the left and right arrows advance the menu item. Two buttons on the left side are humidifier (increase value), ramp button, lower the value.

I'm sure you'll see the 4 cm ramp value and suggest you raise it to at least 6 cm. Give that a little time and see how it works and then see if 7 or 8 feels beter.

Good Luck,
TerryB

Not sure but with the old 3 button machines you held the ramp and the pressure on/off button down while pluging it in. Wait for the beep 4/5 seconds would take you into the set-up menu.

Sorry, this what I found. It was for the 3 button Plus but it looks like the lite.

To go to the next setting, press and release the pressure on/off button.
To change settings, use the ramp or humidifier buttons.

First setting shown is the ELEVATION SETTING (altitude above sea level.)
Lo = Less than 2,500 feet.
M = 2,500-5,000 feet.
Hi = 5,000 - 7,500 feet.

PRESSURE SETTING:
The CPAP pressure setting will appear. To change the setting, press and release the ramp or humidifier button.

Press and release the pressure on/off button each time you want to go to the next setting.

FINE ADJUSTMENT SETTING:
The CPAP fine adjustment setting will appear. This setting allows you to calibrate the device so that the pressure can be verified with a manometer. If you DO NOT want to calibrate the device, press and release the pressure on/off button to go to the next setting.
My Note: do not change this setting unless you have a manometer.

RAMP TIME SETTING:
Range 0 - 45 minutes. The patient also has access to this in the Patient Setup menu.

RAMP STARTING PRESSURE SETTING:
Range 4 - the Pressure Setting.

Did say something about the blower would run all through this process.

What DO you see? Could you please list all of the menu options you see as you go through the setup menu?

Seems to me that if you don't press the Ramp button, it won't use the Ramp feature. Just start it with the On/Off button.
