RemZzzs mask liners
RemZzzs mask liners
To start with, I am troubled about the fact that I pull up nothing whatever for this item on either our forum search box or Google. Not sure why. (Edit: Geesh. Just a spelling issue. Sorry).
My post here is to address my experience with a trial pack of these liners. I used the liners for the Ultra Mirage FFM. Felt like silk on my face and was wonderful in comparison to the direct contact of the silicone cushion.
But this liner caused major leaking all around the edges of my mask as previously adjusted.....went from 2.0 average leaking to over 4.5, and I have been awakened frequently during the nights as a result of the air blowing into my eyes and around my face. The liners did not in any way decrease the mask markings on my face each morning, despite my attempts to adjust the mask to the liners.
What do the rest of you find with these liners?

I was hoping these would help me wear my F&P 432 small, which is a bit big for me. Nope, unfortunately I had the same results as you, plr66....

Same here, we tried a sample package when they were first talked about here. They caused major leaks with the UMFF and just seemed to get in the way.

Re: RemZzzs mask liners
Well.... it's a great idea, but the RemZzzs folks won't be getting any of my $$ because they don't have a liner which fits my full-face mask.
So I have no idea if their product is better than my homemade liner out of t-shirt material. I know mine is less expensive because I cut it out of a dead t-shirt that I was going to throw away anyway!

Re: RemZzzs mask liners
I cut mine out of old panties.
The thing with liners is that the silicone no longer sticks to your skin and helps with the seal. However if after a night you don't have skin for it to stick too, that is a bigger problem.
I accept the slightly higher leak rate for the advantage of having skin on my face.

AFAIK the whole use some kind of cloth material buffer was first posted here -----
viewtopic.php?t=2754
Of course others might have posted before or on other boards about it but this was the first time I read it.
I have used single layer of tshirt or cotton panty material myself. I have suggested pieces of handkerchief, old sheets, old pillow cases, old flannel shirts to other over time. I do like the idea of using what would be a rag a few times then trash it.
Be sure if you make your own and find just the right fit, keep that one and use it as a pattern. Once you have that, you can watch tv some night and cut up an old garment and make an ample supply.

Re: RemZzzs mask liners
I've found that in most cases the issue with leaking is caused by not using the right size or making correct adjustments to the liner. If used correctly RemZzzs have proven to be highly effective against both leaks and skin irritation/allergic reactions. It's important to order the correct size as well as to adjust the liner by pulling on the edges of the liner until a good fit has been achieved around nose and mouth. Also, the liner should be sized so that there is at least a half inch or more extending past the edge of the mask skirt. Here is a clip from the RemZzzs instruction page:
Note: For best fit, you may need to adjust RemZzzs™ around nose and mouth by pulling outward on protruding edges, leaving 1/2 – 3/4 inches sticking out beyond the mask cushion.
When these instructions are followed, most people achieve a great night's sleep with RemZzzs. Of course, there are always individual cases and each individual face is different. Sometimes one person might have a certain experience with RemZzzs that many others do not have. In the end it comes down to the particular individual and many factors, some of which can be subjective and vary from person to person. For example, one person might feel that removing the "plastic" feel of the silicone from the face is a pleasant experience, while a small percentage of people might actually like the feeling of silicone against their face. Many of these factors are certainly related to the individual, especially when RemZzzs have had such a huge success rate across the US and in 12 countries (and counting).

Re: RemZzzs mask liners
Hey Nathan, are you selling this item? Thanks for reviewing the instructions. I had no trouble following the instructions from the start.
Actually, I have been using exactly the right size RemZzzs for the UMFF mask. The cloth lay perfectly over the silicone, did not bunch or shift all night....perfectly smooth over the cushion by morning. The issue as I see it, is that (as noted above by BlackSpinner) the cloth does not allow the silicone to seal against the skin anymore, so the mask (in my case) would need to be tightened too much to avoid the constant leaking all around the mask. Without the cloth liner, my mask is snug enough to leave a ring mark on my face for 2 hours, so should not be tightened any further. Just curious if others had found different results.

Re: RemZzzs mask liners
This is VERY interesting to me (the consensus on quality and/or effects of the liners) as I spoke to their ? CEO last week as they were looking for someone to sell liners in Canada (I have a funny old place here - the back half being an old commercial propt'y with lots of storage space), but I'm certainly not about to follow through now with any of it. Thank you all!
Re: RemZzzs mask liners
Hi folks, just to clarify, I am a RemZzzs representative. I posted on this thread to help clarify issues with sizing. I keep an eye on this forum and many other forums where people discuss our product. I've noticed that other product representatives reply to posts about their particular products. My intention is not solicitation, but customer service. We've had quite a few people order our product from this forum and I simply wanted to make sure that the instructions for use were clear. I appreciate the feedback that cpaptalk users provide and I sincerely hope that whatever mix of products you choose for your therapy the end result is a good night's sleep!
Blessings,
Nathan

Re: RemZzzs mask liners
i've had good luck with the RemZzzs mask liners. I tried to use a do-it-yourself liner out of T shirt material, but it was too thick and caused more leaks. The RemZzzs actually help with my leak rates and make me far more comfortable than that silicone sliding around on my face and giving me horrible sores!

Nathan,
Actually, I'm interested in your product, but you do not have one for the Probasic Zzz-mask, full face. As a consequence, I have to make my own. <smile>
