For those like you, the aerophagia is but a fuel source.

Hey, there's a silver lining in every cloud...right? Just adding my bit of levity. Do you think she laughed?! Probably not....

I don't want ky jelly up my nose and I don't want to not be able to leave my house because I have gas so bad. I don't want to have to sleep in one position all night listening to my airways trumpeting or peel skin off my nose. And maybe I won't have to. So I will let you guys know how it goes. Thanks.
I think you are having a case of anticipatory anxiety... understandable... particularly after reading medical related forums on the 'net.

Given you don't have any equipment yet... how do you know you will need KY up the nose or have gas?

Why worry and fume over issues you are not sure yet if they will be YOUR issues?
Exactly! I had no idea about aerophagia or other problems until I started cpap. My biggest issue - the first few nights with no sleep because of the mask on my face. The near meltdown that sent me home from work after the Memorial Day weekend wasn't pretty, but my sleep doc got me on ambien. I'm down to 5mg from 10 and I feel good when I get up. He wants me off the 5 mg , which I suspect will be done at my next appt. in November, but I'm working on it myself, trying to sleep without it on the weekends. It works, and I do sleep, just not as well if I had the ambien.

I don't have aerophagia, but then again, I have gas from other medicines I take so it's kind of hard to tell. I just blame it on the cpap when I have to pass gas. Sometimes hubby and I compete to see who can fart loudest. However, I can't fart or burp on cue like he can.

I don't use KY Jelly - and honestly I don't need to since I have a nasal mask - no nasal pillows as it wasn't very comfortable for me. I start out sleeping on one side and wake up sleeping on my otherside. So you can move around when you sleep. You're not "stuck" in one position all night.

My nose peels because I have combo skin: dry nose area, oily forehead and cheek areas. I've had this for as long as I can remember, probably starting when I hit puberty. Can't blame cpap on that one.
So you get one chance in a lifetime to spend time with the sexiest man of the Boeshane Peninsula or traveling around in a TARDIS. Which would you choose?
