Ready to cancel

Post by raggedykat » Fri Jul 31, 2009 2:13 pm

Yesterday I was feeling really good about getting started on cpap. Now I have discovered aerophagia. No one said anything about aerophagia. I really don't know how this could get much worse. Gas and ky jelly up my nose, I've got my hand on the phone now.

One question... what kind of equipment do you have? There may be remedies.

It is a lot better then death or stroke.
Or giving your self insulin injections or changing your colostomy bag.
Or even living as a zombie on pain medications.
Why are you looking for issues?
I slapped mine on, slept 10 hours and woke up refreshed and awake - only had to deal with red marks and that was solved in an hour.

I'm not looking for issues, they seem to be finding me. And I have had colon cancer, I have a pacemaker and am living with many other health issues so believe me I know what it is like. Just don't know how much more I can take.

I'm not going to read any more until after I actually get my equipment and get started. Too much information at one time. I don't want ky jelly up my nose and I don't want to not be able to leave my house because I have gas so bad. I don't want to have to sleep in one position all night listening to my airways trumpeting or peel skin off my nose. And maybe I won't have to. So I will let you guys know how it goes. Thanks.

To reiterate what was previously said......PLEASE list all of your equipment and machine settings.

Many people have found ways around this situation.

If you go up to the Search line and type in "aerophagia" (and "GERD" and "reflux" ), you'll find many, many threads/posts to read.

Don't give up hope.

With CPAP you will feel better and be able to handle it all better. Without cpap you will go down hill faster, no oxygen = no fuel to rebuild.

One thing for certain if you have Sleep Apnea and don't treat it correctly, you will NOT have to worry about treating it as long! Sleep Apnea it a life long problem, not treating it insures a shorter life. Jim

I have many health issues myself and had an ileostomy for a while. I'm still struggling with CPAP, and last night I had a return of the "chipmunk cheeks." I know what you mean when you say you don't know how much more you can take, but please don't give up! You will feel better for it in the long run. Although I wouldn't say CPAP is fun by any means, it sure is better than checking my blood sugar, changing ostomy bags or having surgery. So please hang in there.

Hes/she hasn't got it yet and is making themselves very anxious worrying about problems they might not have. CPAP is a breeze compared to practicing pain control.

I realized that after I saw her post just preceding mine. I guess I presumed that she had already started on CPAP since she mentioned (I read it that she was "experiencing") aerophagia.

Why don't you post your settings? The reason we ask is because on occasion someone will have been prescribed a setting possibly a little higher than is strictly necessary, and by lowering it just a couple of degrees, gets rid of their aerophagia. But if you're only on a setting of e.g. 7-8, then there may be other things to think about as there isn't a whole lot of room for lowering it.
