Anybody interested???

Post by yawn » Tue Sep 06, 2005 3:45 pm

Some of us have been talking about losing weight. Anybody care to be a "support" group??
Lori's lost 14 lb (right?) (Sleepless on LI)
I've lost 8 lbs..I was sure it was more than that (yawn)
Bill (WAFlowers) swears he's going to lose faster than anybody else.
If you want to join the fun...feel free to post your results.

I saw my doctor today and he swears that my OSA will go away if I lose weight...I sure hope he's right.

I should join. I gain and lose weight quite frequesntly. It's so hard traveling. It's easy talking about it but hard when I drag to my hotel room late in the evening and have no will power. And I can't live without my caffeine. I drive too much. I have Crohn's and have to keep somthing on my stomach.

Wow...you ladies are brave posting your weight. There's no way I will ever tell anybody how much I weigh....but I will post if I've lost any weight...or if I've tried and haven't lost anything. How official should we make this? Should we have a weekly reporting....or maybe monthly????

R&R....I hear ya....losing weight is tough when you travel and have illnesses that get in the way. I have a friend with Crohn's and she's always watching what and how much she eats. How about, instead of trying to lose weight, you try not to gain weight. Or maybe you think about getting a certain amount of exercise each week...or maybe drink more water. Little steps lead to big steps. I'm lucky because where I work, they have an incentive program to get you to exercise 30 mins., eat 5 fruits/veg, and drink 6 glasses of water each day. You earn tickets depending on what you've done and at the end of the month, they have a drawing and you can win money. It's great...you don't pay anything and you have the chance at winning some money.

Probably should post pretty frequently so I don't lose site..weekly would be good for me. AAannnd... I just ate some cookies. What was I thinking???!!! You're right about the baby steps...just some type of change will make a difference. I keep trying to keep this in mind...that if I eat when I'm not supposed to, it is GONE in seconds, and then I'm left with the guilt. Talk to you all tomorrow! (fighting with my daughter to get to the computer as we both need it LOL

Well I was admitted in the hosptial on the 24th og august and they weight you and when the lady told me I lost that much i was very shock to hear that I was happy because I wasn't on a diet but me and my husband stop eating outside the house and cooking our meals at home. I guess eating out is bad for you he even lost some weight so now I was to continue eating and preparing my own meals.

Wow, Yawn, you have a great job, can I ask what kind of work you do?

I do drink tons of water, and I try to take a walk most days, my problem is what I eat. And what is available to me on the road. Plus I am weak when it concerns food.

I know what you mean rock and roll...my husband travels alot and also has a hard time finding better food to eat. He is usually so busy when away he usually stops at fast food joints...even worse for you.

I wonder where I can find a scale to weigh in. We don't own one.

My best guess is I'm approaching 230 ... again! I've been up and down almost 20lbs twice this year, and it isn't over yet.

OK, I'm inspired. Time for me to go for a walk around my company's 50,000sq.ft. facility in search of some drinkable water. And some exercise!

Walmart sells scales cheap. If your family does not want one at home keep it in your office.

Wow...I'm blown away (and thrilled) by all the responses. I guess this was a good idea. I know I do better when I have a support group.

R&R...I'm a secretary at an elementary school. The program I talked about is for all the staff in our corporation (we're talking 100s of people). It's a voluntary program but hey, I'd be crazy not to do it.

Bill....do you have a health center at your facility? You could weigh in there. My Dr. has me coming in monthly to "weigh in" so that's when I'll post my official loss (or gain....let's hope not).

Sounds like this would be good to do once a week. Is Friday a good day for everybody?? Even if you don't want to post actual pounds, you could talk about how your week went...did you eat right and get some exercise?? How much a person loses is very personal so let's not make it a requirement.

Stay strong everybody...we can do this!!!
