Does anyone NOT like their activa and why. So far my comfort gel is ok, but am considering an activa.

Seagull, I used to use the Ultra Mirage before I got my Activa last April. I like the Activa, but there were two things that I had to get used to. The first was its weight compared to the Ultra Mirage. The second was that the edge of the seal touched my lip. What makes the Activa seal so good is that the seal expands like a balloon, and the edge touched my lip. This adds to the size or bulk of the mask, which would not be good if one is at all claustrophobic. I easily got used to both of these things.
Before I used the Ultra Mirage, I used a Comfort Gel for about three weeks which was just as heavy as the Activa. I had a lot of leaks with the Comfort Gel. It also was not comfortable for me at the bridge of my nose.I think this was due to the fact that I broke my nose many years ago and I have a bump there. I would definitely give the Activa a try.

comfortgel vs Activa
Sounds like my experience mirror everyone elses. I have the ComfortGel but am considering the Swift and the Activa. I have also broken my noce yrs ago and it hurts at the bridge. I also havea few leaks fromtime to time. My setting is only 8 but I think I would like the Swift; It looks like it would be less confining. Anyone switched from the ComfortGel directly to the Swift???

I had an Ultra Mirage before I bought an Activa which was so highly recommended on this site. At first I really liked the Activa better. Then I had a problem putting it back together after cleaning it and switched back to my Ultra Mirage. I found that the Ultra Mirage weighs less, is smaller, and there's a lot less material in contact with your face.
I also noticed my AHI went down when I switched back to my Ultra Mirage although I'm not sure why.
I keep my Activa around for emergencies, but I now prefer the Ultra Mirage.

Thanks. My face is small and the comfort gel petite already sits on my upper lip.
I did go straight from comfort gel to swift. Only used the comfort gel for 2 nights till I got my swift. I have been using the comfort gel for the last few nights. I can only use either of them for 3 1/2 hours at a time. Been on apap for about 2 months.

I NEVER take my Activa apart to clean it.
I hate not being able to itch my nose, but that applies to ANY nasal mask that covers the nose. And that is why I swap with the Swift.
Most people seem to prefer the Activa over the comfort gel. But everyone is unique.
Otherwise for me its a comfortable, quiet mask that seals and doesn't cause any pain, when properly adjusted.

As the general contrarion of the group, I seem to spend a lot of the night adjusting the Activa on my face to stop leaks around the eyes. Every time I move my head on the pillow the movement of the straps seems to open leaks which wake me. I have two sizes, the large and the standard, and the standard seems to be better for me. I've spent a lot of time with the adjustments but nothing seems to work all night.
Derek: I have the same problem, small leaks usually in the early morning that keep me awake. Some nights are perfect others are awful. I do like how loose it fits. My first mask was the comfort gel, I had to strap that on like a vice, and it was terrible. I am in search for an alternative, am reluctant to go with the nasal pillow stuff, but may try a breeze. By the way now that I realize which Derek I am talking to, when I changed my pressure range on my auto from 6.-12 to 8-12, my percentage in pressure went up from my titrated pressure of 9 cm to more in the 10 and some in the eleven range. That was when I was having more mask trouble also. Why would it push everything up do you think????

snork1, hey I'm like you, I have never taken my mask apart to clean, with one exception. Every morning I thoroughly wash the silicone based seal that actually touches my face. The oils from my face would slowly destroy the somewhat sticky silicone that forms the incredible seal of this mask if I didn't. Otherwise I envision cleaning the whole thing maybe once a month or two. Don't really understand the taking apart every day concept. Seems like that would just wear the parts down more quickly, and cause more leaking.
