That's the problem with this society; too many radicals are running around free. It was probably one of them radical types that pulled a gun on R&R. I wonder if he'd doused him with that cider vinegar if it might have helped? .

WAF,

You could me so off guard with that one, I cracked up when I read it. Yes, that is the problem with society and all them there free radicals running around...if only apple cider vinegar would eliminate them all .

Thanks for the smile. Hope you're still doing well.

I'm sleeping well, just not long enough. I need to learn to go to bed earlier since I can't sleep later!

I'm certainly feeling more mentally alert and am much more creative than I was a month ago. I also have more physical energy that is translating into getting more done around the house. No sign of weight loss yet though.

I'm looking forward to using this new-found energy to get my woodworking shop up and running again. I just took delivery of a bunch of free cherry, birds eye maple and black walnut scraps that will make beautiful small plates on my lathe or stunning jewelry boxes.

Or maybe a bed-side mask storage box.

Now you're talking my husband's language. A true woodsman, by trade.

So you're feeling energetic and sleeping well, just not enough. That's a positive comment, though. Imagine if you slept enough??? What would you do with yourself? You'd probably have everything you need to do accomplished. What a concept!

I found, too, with the weight loss aspect, I had to physically make a change to lose the weight. It didn't just happen because I was on CPAP, but it allowed it finally to happen. I am now down 14 lbs., but it took two months of exercise and a new eating regime to accomplish it. I have about seriously 9 more that I HAVE to lose to feel satisfied with my weight. Then whatever comes naturally after that, because I'm not stopping either the exercise or the eating plan, will just happen. But it won't be something I need in my own mind to do. I have gone down two pants sizes and that's a beautiful thing for me.

So you may have to consciously make an effort to do some type of cardio, like bike riding, walking, jogging, or the like, and seriously evaluate what and when you eat, and how much. I did and it worked. Weren't you the one who lost the weight so quickly in the beginning that you made me feel the weight I had struggled to lose what a big nothing or am I confusing you with someone else?

In any event, I'm so glad you're feeling well. May it continue.

Well, that sure caught my eye.... I'm glad to hear your doing so well Bill. Going to bed early sucks...makes me feel like a little kid but I need to get as much sleep as possible so I'm usually tucked in around 10:00. I get to sleep until 6:00 which should be plenty of sleep...but I could always use more.
I agree with Lori's weight loss advice...move more and eat less..it really does work. I wish, like Lori, I only had 9 lbs. to lose....append another 9 and then you're in my ballpark. I'm determined though so I hope I can do it. Losing weight seems to be easier than following this CPAP regimen. I do ok wearing the mask...I just need to conquer the leaks etc.

Lori, Amy, it is late and I'm off to bed. Detailed reply next time I'm online.

It is what I dream of when I sleep, now that I'm dreaming again.

Yeah, I'm aware of that. The past month has been a challenge of adjustments. I spent a week doing a month's work at the office plus trying to catchup on things at home, then away for a week of business, then back for another week doing more catchup at office and home, then away for much of a week again.

Of course, when travelling on business I'm eating at restaurants and some of it is business entertatinment.

This sort of schedule doesn't make it easy to start a sensible regimen of exercise and maintain proper nutrition.

Excellent! Keep up the good work. You're an inspiration to the rest of us.

Tonight if the weather cooperates I'll hop on my bike and build up a good sweat. Otherwise I'll get the treadmill going.

It is time to take back my life!
... and seriously evaluate what and when you eat, and how much.
I'm working to establish a regular schedule so my wife can actually anticipate when to have food ready. The issue of how much seems to be resolving itself; my appetite appears to be decreasing.

I'm the one who posted a joke about the miracle effects of xPAP treatment. Don't confuse that with reality!

Indeed. Thank you.

Maybe black walnet with a cherry top and birds-eye maple inset decoration, all finished with tung oil and shellac to give it a very traditional look.

Last night I headed to bed around 9:40 and was asleep by 10; up at 5:30. Yeah, going to bed that early sucks but waking up feeling great makes it worthwhile.

Boy, do I know what you mean!

I want to drop a few pant sizes, so stay tuned for a slow, gradual decline from me.

Okay. Laughing out loud because I now remember that one and you will make sure I never forget it, the unforgiving sort that you are !!!!

You know, even if you do a lot of eating at restaurants when you're away or out for entertainment purposes on business, you can still find things to eat that are not going to add to your weight or be unhealthy, such as grilled poultry and seafood (my favorite), vegetables and salad, or even a baked potato sans the sour cream and butter (ahem). There are ways to eat that are healthy that I've adopted now and really don't mind because they're still delicious. I just stopped the red meat, the fried foods, a lot of bread, although I don't think stopping ANYTHING completely is good because it only makes you want it more. But instead of having that second Margarita or Bloody Mary, have one and stop. There are little tricks. Oh, a biggie I've found is, instead of drinking sodas, drink water. Add a little lemon wedge/juice to it and it's something you can really get used to and eliminates the processed sugar or aspartame and other chemicals that are so not necessary in our diets. Oh, yes, the biggie: No more than one coffee or tea a day!!! I used to drink 8-10 cups of tea with Coffee Mate Hazelnut creamer in each cup (or I should say huge mug-from Disney, gigantic ones they sell for $9.00 a mug). I still treat myself to my morning cup with hazelnut in it, but no sugar and that's it for tea or any other caffeine drink for the rest of the day. Caffeine, bad for you!!! I will bet if I just cut out the tea with creamer, I would have dropped 10 lbs without the rest of the changes in my eating. It's so fattening, the creamer. I think it's safe to say, just about everything we enjoy immensely is bad for us. Isn't that sad? So if you're enjoying yourself, chances are you're doing something bad for you (only kidding-but evaluate to be safe).

I don't know about 14 lbs. in two months being inspiring, but it certainly made me feel better, mentally and physically, and look a hell of a lot better. It was hard work, but it's a lifestyle I am glad I was able to finally adopt since I got my energy level back. And if I know you and read you correctly (no, you're not a book), you will do this, too, and feel the same way I do about it. There is no choice in order to be healthy but to eat correctly and exercise AND stay on our CPAP whenever we sleep. If we make this a way of life, we are better off more so than before our diagnoses of OSA.

Good luck with it all, WAF. I KNOW you can and will do it. In the meantime, I will now struggle with the last nine pounds...

You're making me drool Bill.....
Your "hobbies" don't sound like hobbies to me...you are quite the perfectionist aren't you?? How did you teach yourself to learn new things so quickly. I am a VERY slow reader and I usually have to read things over and over again before the "stick" in my head....("ADD" maybe?) I wish I could learn things more quickly..especially the boring stuff...my mind just turns off when the boring stuff comes my way.

Oh but look at all the other health benefits you read about coffee and tea. Why would it be bad, it speeds up your metabolism. It keeps you awake and out of bed and carwrecks.

Yes, I agree. If you're going on a long trip and need to stay awake, caffeine is the thing. But it gave me migraines since I became addicted to it (8-10 cups a day). But you're right, that they are now saying it's good for you. But when you have high blood pressure and migraines, it wasn't helping me. My doctor said, "BAD!!!" Maybe it depends on your health and individual situation.

I only have 3 cups of coffee a day (2 mugs worth). They are finished by 9am on weekdays. For sweetener I use Splenda.

I don't drink a lot of softdrinks (a few a week, not even one a day) but I know I'm not drinking enough water. Trying to change that.
