tomkat,
How tight are you making the back strap? I find the tighter I make it, the more it rides up. If you can leave it looser and maybe tighten the top one a bit more, you may have better luck. I will try to lab-rat this and come up with something as you are not the only person complaining of that lately. And even if you were, I'd still try to come up with something (said that wrong, didin't I).

Vinegar

Post by Margaret » Fri Sep 02, 2005 10:12 pm

Hi Guys

Just a thought on vinegar. Not all vinegars are natural or even true vinegars anymore. It's frightening what manufacturers will do to make an extra few cents on every sale. I don't know what effect the new cheap and nasty chemical concoctions might do to our very expensive masks but I only use natural apple cider vinegar now no matter what it's for. I would never use it straight and probably only 30 minutes or so should be long enough to clean most things. I don't know that I'm right (I will certainly try the vinegar) but I can't afford to damage my masks.

Sadistic????? No.

Frisky at the time, yes.

Blowing steam. Had a backwoods moron pull a gun on me today. Talked my way out of danger but on a adrinaline rush for the past six hours.

Serious about using a headband, it should keep the back strap from rising up.

Rock & Roll,
OMG, I cannot believe you had someone pull a gun on you. Did they arrest him, I hope? I think my knees would be knocking for a year after that. Do you think he really would have shot you if you didn't talk him out of it? You're very brave if you stayed calm enough to do that. Congratulations on keeping your cool! Hope you're okay. I think I may have had a heart attack right then and there.

Margaret,
I did use natural apple cider vinegar. I take two tbsps. every day for health purposes (it's wonderful, supposedly) as it helps to keep your BP normal and is an anitoxidant, gets rid of those free radicals, etc. It has many purposes other than just cleaning masks really well. Does smell bad on the rubber for a bit, but works great for that, too.

Thanks for the suggestion, though. My husband didn't want me to buy the next bottle from the health food store as it's like $4.00 for a small bottle, but now after reading what you wrote, I will continue to buy the natural acv. Thanks.

R&R, holy cow , glad you're ok!!

That just brought a rush of memories back to me from another lifetime. Myself and 2 other folks were victims of an armed robbery. We were employees at a restaurant that was robbed just after closing. However, there was no talking to these punks. Lucky we all realized that and did EXACTLY as we were told. They got 1200 and my car...nice. It was found the next day, wrecked, in a field.

Anyway, again, glad you're ok R&R.

Actually, I was in a small town on the Louisiana/Texas border and stopped at a MCDonalds and had just ordered a salad when this redneck drunk lowlife walked into me then turned and got in my face and demanded to know why I had bumped him. I merely stated that I had been standing there for ten minutes and that it was he who had bumped me. He then yelled drunkenly at me that "pretty boys" should not call him a liar and that he was going to blow my @$%&ing head off and pulled out a large gun and pointed it at me. I just stared into his eyes seeing if he would do it, I mean what else could I do and after a minute a couple of locals jumped in front of me and the manager gave me my food in a to go bag and asked that I leave as she had called the police. I did. They were protecting their own against an "outsider" and I thought better of trying to press charges. This was in a very redneck area. Actually, this is the fourth time in my life I have had to stare down a gun. It makes me mad and I just have learned to maintain eye contact until they think a second about it. After I am gone from the scene, then I get the rubber legs and the rush of what happened.

R&R,
The way you told that story had me feeling as though it were me in your place. Holy *&%# !!!! That would have taken years off my life, for sure. I am so glad you had the ability and sense to know how to handle yourself and got out of there alive. Isn't it disgusting, though, how in these redneck backwoods towns, they would ask you to leave to protect the guilty, their own? This is like out of the cinema. I could see this scene in some movie I'd watch on TV.
Once again, I'm glad you're okay and that ruberry legs was all you got as a result from that. Please be safe. We all need you and want you to stay around, as I'm sure you loved ones do, too.
Have a relaxing holiday weekend. You certainly deserve it.
PS: At least he gave you a compliment and called you "pretty." How nice ( )...

Well, since he looked like he was out of the movie "Deliverance" I don't think that was a compliment. Has been 30 years since I've heard that though. I bet he was the town druck and is related to the mayor or DA or some prominent local. My wife wants me to press charges but quite franly I don't want to spend the time and effort to something that won't have anything come of it. I used to live in a small town and know the politics.

Out of Deliverance!!! Exactly how I pictured this whole scenario when you explained it. Truly unreal to have to have gone through that.

Meanwhile, what would pressing charges do? I would just be thankful you were able to walk out of there. Pressing charges, unfortunately, wouldn't change their way of doing things as, like you said, he's probably related to the judge or someone in some type of official capacity and it's not going to change the way this town conducts itself. And what would you get out of it? I would just be glad I'm okay and try to put it out of my head. There are a lot of loonies out there and you count your blessings when having stared down the barrel of a gun and are still alive to tell the tale.

Try and enjoy your weekend and truly appreciate being here.

R&R...OMG!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe what you went through AND that it's not the 1st time. Time to think of a new line of work????? Sure don't want all that CPAP treatment to get blown away for nothing . I"m only kidding...but seriously, maybe you should stick to the drive through from now on. I'm so happy you got out of that alive. I agree with you....why bother pressing charges...that could just put you in more danger. Please try and stay safe-er. We don't want to lose you!!!

Unfortunately no. I was really hoping I could get my hubby to work on it today (especially since I feel so horrible today) but his stomach is bothering him so I think he'll be spending the day on the couch....maybe tomorrow.
