My experience with a reptile heater.
Bought one a couple of months ago and wrapped it around my fleece hose cover and it works like a champ.
I just want to go back to sleep!
Re: My experience with a reptile heater.
Thanks for that - I also got one (after reading about them here) but have yet to actually try it out. Now I won't be so hesitant.
Re: My experience with a reptile heater.
Been using mine for a year without issues.

I used one for a while but I think my real problem was exhalation and there isn't much way to stop that.

Re: My experience with a reptile heater.
I built one for travel use; 25 watt Repti heater cord spiral-wound around a standard 6-foot tube, held in place with a few plastic wire-ties (to prevent movement and overlapping "hot-spots"), then all covered with a commercial zippered cloth hose cover. Also built a controller using a rotary "dimmer" light switch in a standard plastic enclosure, with approximate voltage calibrations. I've used it a few times (initially with trepidation due to posted reports of melting hoses). Comfortable humidity level and temperature with the ResMed H3i set half-way, and the controller set to about 80 volts, so theoretically not much above 15 watts used, and no condensation. Very careful, though, to TURN OFF the HEATER whenever I turn off the airflow.

Thanks Rested Gal and Velbor for the link and picture.
I was mentally visualizing a bunch of geckos clinging to the hose.

That's me (the newcomer wondering "What for?"). You, along with others, have been so very helpful to me in my quest to figure all of this out.rested gal wrote:For new readers who might be wondering... "Reptile heater??? What for?"

I don't think they'd work...aren't they cold-blooded? However, I bet they'd resolve the bugs in the hose issues.LoneStar wrote:Thanks Rested Gal and Velbor for the link and picture.
