Janelle, I am using Breeze nasal prongs and have only one size given to me by my DME...not sure what size. I do not tape my mouth and never will. MY RT was horified when I asked her about mouth taping...and so am I, to be honest. Imagine having runoff water in the middle of the night with your mouth taped...brrr. As for chin strap, I do have one, never used it because my facial skin is to sensitive, Tried it on few times and got itchy skin imediatelly. I probably do open my mouth during the night, I heard my self snor few times, and to prevent this I tend to sleep on my sides. Seems to be helping. What I do not understand is noise coming out from " somewhere" (mashine or hose) during the night. Let me explain: noise wakes me up, its loud hising sound, then it stopes when I repositon myself. I'm at that point so grogy and unable to investigate source of this noise. Even my husband told me that some nights its too noisy but so far he was unable to determine if I make the noise or the machine. I do not think something is wrong with cpap itself because it always starts fine in the evening, and some nights when I have hard time falling asleep I can hear fine almost soothing like sound coming from it continuously.
So with all this going on, you can imagine my frustration with this threathment. Yes it helped but "no thank you" I'll rather be without sleep apnea:) I have to admit my cats are another source of my night restlesness, but interestingly enought they never bothered me before the cpap...so I just don't know at this point. Been on cpap since September and its just not my thing!
Thanks for your interest:)

Hello, fellow insomniacs!

It only stands to reason that true insomniacs would be posting to this forum at three o'clock in the morning, like me!!!!

(my cat's confused.)

The hissing sound, Lana is your nasal pillows leaking. Clear pillows are medium, green are large. I think small are pink. Most people they fit with clear. The Breeze comes with two sizes of pillows, so if you only got one and you don't think they are fitting properly DEMAND the next size up or down.

This was the problem I had with the Breeze too. Every time I moved or changed position, they would leak, I'd have to readjust the mask to get the leak to quit. My RT thinks it is because my nostrils are rather close together like his. He has the same problem using the Breeze.

I have a similarly related question. I currently take 100 mg of Trazadone a night to assist me in sleeping. I have been taking it for several years way before I was diagnosed with OSA. I also take two magnesium citrate pills at night to help me relax but I still am not sleeping more than two to three hours a night and then I am up for several and end up going back to sleep without the mask. I am currently on a Resmed 6 with Swift LT pillow mask and headgear. I was thinking about scheduling an appointment with my sleep doctor and getting a mild sleeping pill to help me sleep the problem I have found is that most sleeping pills do not allow you to go into REM sleep the most restorative of the sleep cycle. Does anyone know of a sleeping pill that will allow REM sleep and not interact with the Trazadone and does not worsen depression? Just wondering.
