Anyone have a suggestion on how to fix the problem? Thanks.

If this is the Legacy model (Pre-M Series), the humidifier could be pre-heated for 20 minutes, but if the machine was not started before that, it would shut down the HH. Also, any time the XPAP would be shut off, the HH would also have to be restarted.
If her problem falls within those parameters, then she needs to change some of the things she's doing. If it's actually shutting down while in use, then there's something else wrong. It's not out of the realm of possibility that there's something wrong with the humidifier, but it may be something with the "timing" of what she's doing, too.

Also the HH, isn't meant as a air heater, it only heats water so it can evaporate easier. to heat the air heat the room. Jim

Carol, does the top surface of your machine have the words "M series" on it?

I'm a relatively new user of the Respironics Remstar Pro M series with humidifier. I travel a great deal, and I've found that during the winter, even a fairly warm room pushes so much cool air into my mask that I wake up choking and congested (even during the summer I'm not able to use the A/C because of this issue--I breathe fine, but am hot and uncomfortable.) Judging from the responses below, there doesn't appear to be anything I can do about it. I've essentially stopped using it, and am considering surgery despite the fairly low (50%) cure rate for my severe sleep apnea. Anyone have any other advice?

Even if your results with surgery prove painful and useless, the doctor will like his new MAG wheels. If you want heated air use the options for heated hoses, or warm up your room.
