How Fat Are You?
I was kidding when I said I was old, lol although I feel like Im 80 sometimes...Well speaking of genes, it looks like you got longevity ( I think I spelled that right), lol thats good, thats another reason, this whole sleep apnea thing scares me because it is the first "health problem" due to my weight, and it makes me mad at myself for letting my weight get this bad, Diabetes runs in my family on both sides and my father who I lost almost 3 years ago died at a very young age (right before his 53rd birthday) of CHF and he also had Diabetes. So its really scary, but what scares me even more is you would think I would be a whole lot more motivated, but Im not and that is the crazy part, I wish I was more dedicated than I am!!!
Lisa,
Are you aware that some kinds of CHF is can be a result of sleep apnea, and that treating sleep apnea can make the CHF better?

I have sever apnea and am on meds for tyroid which is what caused me to gain all this weight.
If that not enough I am also going through menopause. It took yrs for me to be diagnosed with apnea, and when I started using my Cpap ohhh bliss to sleep through the night.
What I fond most interesting was dreaming again, not having realized I hadn't dreamed in almost 10 yrs. Did anyone else find that to
I just ordered the new comfort curve so we shall see if things improve even more.
Thanks for listening Rachel

OK, time for me to step up.
48 year old male, 5'10", 222 lbs. So far this year I've been as low as 213 and has high as 225. I'm on my way back down again.
I have metabolic syndrome: hypertension, high cholesterol, high triglycerids and type 2 diabetes. All are being treated and in reasonable control with various meds, although my "good" cholesterol is still too low.
As time has gone on, for the past few years, I've been feeling more and more tired and have less energy. In the past 6 months this progression has accelerated.
In the past month since being diagnosed OSA I've learned of the connections between apnea and/or sleep deprivation and metablic syndrome. I have real hope that getting my apnea treated will let me get a handle on the other health issues if only by giving me back enough energy to resume a more active lifestyle!

How Fat Are You?

Good idea, Johnny, except the last time I was in the gym I laid down on the floor mat to start stretching exercises, and fell asleep! So if we're going to have a gym full of apneacs, we better have the music up really loud or really loud alarm clocks all around set to go off every 5-10 minutes!
And for all you fellow victims of the "Obesity Epidemic", check out the link below for the latest on how the Food Police and our Big Nanny in Washington is telling us how fat we are. At least, according to them, we're in pretty good company: Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson, Matt LeBlanc, Steve McNair, The Rock (Dwayne Johnson), Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, and Mike Tyson (at his fighting weight!) are all considered obese according to the Federal Government's new Body Mass Index. This link also includes a Body Mass Index Calculator you can download: Ok, if you'll follow this link & enjoy it as much as I did, I'll get off my soapbox now.

How fat?
Hi all,
I am going to brag a bit!!! Had my gastric by-pass surgery June 28, complication caused the dr. to take my spleen. So, instead of 7-9 small incisions, I had 9 small incisions and 1 HUGE incision. In intensive care for 4 days and regular hospital 4 more. I am now how and healing really well. I have lost over 32 lbs. in 4 weeks. I had an appointment for tomorrow to weigh in again, but had to cancel due to dr. going out of country. He may be running from me . Seriously, losing your spleen is one of the things listed that could possibly happen during this type of surgery. I guess I am just lucky that way.
Also, my liver was in real bad shape due to diabetes. This surgery probably saved my life. It will heal itself. My cpap and I are getting along really great. Sleeping much better than the last 10 years. Also, dreaming again. Wish I could have that dream about John Travolta again , didn't know I could have those kind of dreams again lol.
Good luck to all, Becky

I just had my first night of sleep study. My questions is, when I have the gastric bypass surgery and lose weight, will I still have to wear this equipment? I have not received all results, but oxygen level did go down to 76. That they did not like.
