I have a M series auto with C flex and a S8 Elite both with humidifiers and like them both, but next time would get one with A flex also.

Being new to all this, I bought the machine that I was renting

Fisher-Paykel HC233 -- this thing is so quiet Idon't even know it is on - no lights - easy to use - nice and compact with the intergrated humidifier -- no extra bells and whistles, but I don't need that to sleep

I got the M Series with A Flex because it was the most versitile. The key to treating apnea is compliance and it is hard to be compliant if you aren't comfortable. This machine can do it all, 2 types of exhalation relief, APAP so it can adjust to your apneas, fully data capable, can be set up as CPAP if desired, etc.

I just recently moved to a Resmed, from an older Respironics. My decision was based on 1) the new Respironics M Series machines use external power supplies. I HATE bricks. 2), the new Respironics humidification system is a mess compared to the old one. Don't like it one bit. I hope someone in their engineering department was fired for that huge backwards leap.

I have the Respironics M Series Auto CPAP with A-Flex this was the first machine I was supplied with after my sleep study ,I was very pleased with the effect and comfort . I purchased my own from CPAP.COM as their price couldn't beat my providers inflated price. The service from CPAP.COM was far more informative than my DME provider . I now can download inf. and titrate my pressures with ease . I have also placed little self sticking paper dots on the blue lights ,just enough blue shows arouhd the outer edges to see inthe dark much nicer. I have packed my unit in it''s bag and gone across country on our motorcycle with no problems very easy to take with me anywhere.

I started with the Remstar Auto with c/flex (the classic tank) and then I purchased the Remstar Auto M Series with a/flex and c/flex (as a back-up) and I love them both, I use the M series Auto in a/flex mode, it seems to be a little easier on exhale than the c.flex, I paid cash for both of my machines, I did not rent either one of them, my DME told me that Blue Cross or any other Ins. would not pay for an Auto because that was considered comfort and wanted to sell me a Pro and I said NO, I will pay for the Auto- cash so that I could have the "Comfort" tank!!!

That is excellent! I am sure many newcomers like myself will appreciate all of the reviews so they too can make an informed choice.. Thank you so much again and Johnny that chart on cpap.com is great as well to see how much of what people are buying!

My equipment is only covers what the hospital gives out, and those are all non-datacapable machines.
So I bought mine at cpap.com. I chose the P&B 420 E for several reasons (in no particular order):

- more economical than other APAPs
- no cardreader issues - direct download from the machine
- detects central apneas, which were noted during my titration
- small, travels easy

All in all a pretty good machine!

Resmed S8 II Auto

Why? Rx'd by Sleep Doc (I think down to make/model...)

I then read here, and discovered I got (rent for 13 months then it's MINE!!) a pretty good machine.
I'm Rx'd for and use auto mode...

I really do LOVE my Sleep Doc;.....the DME...not hardly at all. If I could leave them, I would. And they have fell from A+ to about a D for multiple reasons/multiple interactions with different people. For insurance reasons, I think I just have to wait out the rest of the 13 rental months, then tear the "property of..." sticker off my ResMed, and move on...

Got software/reader on my own. I read from the LED screen every morning...and collect detailed data every few days. Every week or so, I spend some time looking at the charts....

A-Flex

Researched both on this forum and at Respironics. Chosen for it's flexibility (no pun intended : ) It can be both a C-Flex and A-Flex. I choose A-Flex for the exhalation relief feature.

And, as I've said in another thread, it will have to be taken from my cold dead arms. I love this machine.

I started off with a ResMed S8 Elite. I asked for a data capable machine even though I wasn't quite sure what that was at the time.

As far as a cpap goes I liked the S8 Elite and the lcd is easy to read and it's easy to get into the clinicians menu and the graphs are nice and they give you the lengths of apneas.
Only problem, they don't detect centrals.

I ordered the new Sandman auto from cpap.com and as always was very pleased with their service. The Sandman can detect CA central apneas (cardiac oscillations), cnt hypopneas, along with obs hypopneas and obs apneas. It also detects snores and runs.
One con regarding the Sandman auto is that if you accidently pull the generator of a night table the humidifier could spill into the generator. I found the solution was to set the machine under a chair beside my bed. This way it can't fall and I won't be likely to step on it or trip over it. A number of the good folks on this site offered good solutions. In spite of the drop of the night table the sandman auto is still working great.

In choosing any machine now or in future, what the software can detect is a top priority issue for me and of course, how the machine itself can make breathing easier and makes it easier to keep both obs and cnt apneas and hypopneas down and under control.

I am glad I bought the Sandman Auto. No regrets.

I have used a bunch of the Resmed products, and finally purchased a Vantage on this site.

I have an antique Resmed S7 with a humidifier that has been great for the past four years. Nothing fancy but plugs along very quietly at my high pressure of 20. I travel a lot and needed something small so I just bought a 420G also with a humidifier and have tried it out for about a week at home. Seems very quiet and works fine. I have always used the UMFF masks.

I was very fortunate in that my symptoms were so severe, falling asleep at work, in conversations, while driving, etc., that I accepted the treatment very well. From the first night on the hose until today, I sleep a solid eight hours and wake up in the same position I went to sleep in. I no longer get up several times a night, experience night sweats, dry mouth or constantly kick and turn. While I don't have the ability to track the data, the bottom line is that my wife is much happier and I feel like a new person. I guess that is the true measure and I wish the same to all of you.
