I've been a USER -- <LOVE DRUG'S> just seems like the dosage of Melatonin is different every time I go into the drug store?

Very interesting... thanks Snoredog.
I don't use Melatonin routinely, but do use it on some nights. A lower dosage seems to assist my sleep just enough, usually in the 1mg to 1.5mg range.

Re: Melatonin may save your teeth
Thanks for this heads up.
I have been using melatonin for over a year.
I started using it in my attempts to get some rest.
It helped me get to sleep, but I still could never stay sleep.....
now I know why.
I have been looking for the melatonin plus. I haven't been
able to find it. Where do you get it???

Re: Melatonin may save your teeth
I had to stop taking Melatonin to aid getting to sleep. I felt that it making me paranoid slash changing my mood. It was not right away but after many months. Very weird.
Re: Melatonin may save your teeth
I had tried it a number of years ago. Had to order it from the States as Canada has banned it's sale. I found that it was great for bringing on sleep but I too would wake up at around 3 in the morning...kind of like withdrawals or something. Perhaps the timed released product would be better.

I too have not been able to find Melatonin Plus. I think Snoredog has posted before that he gets it from Costco but we don't have that chain here. I have also wonderd about the dosage. Last time I was able to find it at Walgreens here it was eather 3mg or 5mg. I guess I could try splitting a pill and get close to 1.5mg. May have to try some of the other drug suppliers in the area to see if I can find the Plus or a dosage less than 3mg.

Snoredog,
Thanks for the link. Very interesting info. Looks like there are several benifits to taking Melatonin in addition to helping me sleep.

Began CPAP on Jul 22, 2008. Split Night Study failed to get a good titration pressure. Titrated (2 week home APAP) at 10. Currently using APAP at 13-15. Not using Humidifier. Even with SA under control, still can't sleep all night!

I don't need it myself, but I buy it for the wife to replace sleep drugs, I cut these in half. SCHIFF sleep support, Melatonin Plus, 5mg Melatonin + 25 mg Theanine. I buy it at Sam's Club, good price and works well. Jim

Re: Melatonin may save your teeth
After 20 years of taking Klonopin for sleep (and could no longer afford it), melatonin gets me to sleep.
But sometimes instead of sleep, i get a very antsy, anxious state and end up downstairs drinking milk
and eating butter sandwiches, and watching the (amazing!) soft-porn on Showtime. By 3:00 a.m. that usually puts me asleep.
This unpleasant (and fattening) situation occurs much too often. Does anyone have any ideas about melatonin causing
anxiety, or suggestions on how to ameliorate it?

Leonbergergirl - I'm still chuckling over your post! While it is not funny, the way you described it made me laugh!
Maybe you should forget the Melatonin, make a butter sandwich, pour a glass of milk and switch right to Showtime! Oh, wait, no, that's unpleasant and fattening!
Sorry, I can't answer your question but thanks for the chuckle!

I suspect that it's just not great for every person. It could be a female body chemistry thing. It could be any number of variables.
But I gave it up. I went back to popping Benadryl (the generic version, which is the active ingredient in Tylenol PM without the Tylenol) when I feel the need. I get less side effects from the Benadryl. I can still get insomnia, but not the antsy/anxiety kind I got with melatonin, and over the long run, I get better and longer sleep with the Benadryl.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.

6PtStar,
I found a timed-release 1mg version of Melatonin by NOW brand, sold in stores and on the web, that you may find to be what you seek. I have used some NOW products and found them to be high quality. NOW Melatonin 1mg Timed Release There is a "Where to Buy" link just below the picture of the bottle. I hope this helps.
