Hybrid - I really love this less invasive design. The best mask I've tried to date. Currently using the large cushion with chin flap. Problem is I have to have it uncomfortably tight to prevent leaks at the corners of my mouth. I tried it without the chin flap but I find it makes the mask too unstable and it starts to leak. Tried in all sizes with and without chin flap.

Using a ladies tights leg to stabilize the nasal pillows was really a nice extra for me and I won't go to bed without them.chipbutty wrote:I think the panty hose trick will be next in my quest for a nights sleep. I've got one of those Buffs which may also work. I use when I go mountain biking; wicks up sweat in the summer and keeps my head warm in winter. Think it could do with a wash first though.
I wear the Buff on my head to protect my hair from the headgear. The Buff is very comfortable and I won't go to bed without it either.
A set of Pad A Cheeks is also a must!

Re: Rank the masks you have tried????
Thanks for that tip, Rooster! I'd never heard of Buffs before. That's exactly the sort of fabric I wanted to use when I was contemplating my own version of SleepGuy's Pap-Cap. Great minds think alike - he and I were both thinking about the concept separately, he actually brought it to fruition.
I'd like to use that Buff fabric to make a chinstrap kinda like the Topaz. Maybe I'll get off my butt and try to do that one day!
Cheers,
Babs

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.

Babette,Babette wrote:BTW, Nosey, from looking at your Avatar pic, I think I see what your problem with the NAII is.
You need to tie the two tubes together at the crown of your head. I use a length of velcro one wrap. You can use anything you want, including some of the random straps that come with the NAII headgear.
This tie together point is really crucial for me to get good stability with the side hoses.

I definitely feel like I didn't fiddle around with the headgear enough and what you suggest sounds like it would help. Hard to test new masks when you have something that works and trying something new can compromise sleep (during VERY busy work weeks). I'm probably going to pick up a NA II....SNAPP looks interesting as well. Obviously, I'll also need some BLING....you and Sleepguy have me spoiled for life.

Buffs themselves are somewhat expensive. Go to a good cloth store and ask to see the bolts of polyester microfiber.Babette wrote:Thanks for that tip, Rooster! I'd never heard of Buffs before. Re: Rank the masks you have tried????
Rooster, It's not the same stuff - TRUST ME ON THIS ONE. If I could make one that worked out of a Buff, I'd talk to them about a synergy. Or better yet - sick SleepGuy on them. He's got more energy than GOD.
Nosey, and it doesn't help when I won't let you KEEP IT INDEFINITELY! Tell you what I CAN do - I'm nearing the end of my current mailing list, and when I reach that, if you haven't already bought one, I can let you "test drive" it a little longer. Keep me posted if that might be what you want to do.
Cheers,
B.

Re: Rank the masks you have tried????
I've tried 10 different types of Interface. Breeze, ComfortLite, Adams Circuit, Nasal Aire, Snapp, Aclaim2, Profile Lite, Comfort Gel, Mirage Ultra and the Activa
1.) Nasal-aire is all time fave for comfort at any pressure but I need to breathe with the mouth open sometimes.
2.) Hybrid universal is second best I've tried
3.) Activa , heavy, but darn good mask in my opinion
4.) Breeze , don't drop it or it will break , but comfy and quiet wile it's in one piece
5.) Mirage Ultra, I know no one else likes it, but it was one of my faves
6.) Soyala, I have holes drilled in mine because the exhaust wasn't near enough for me, but it is great with 4 holes drilled in it
7.) 6600 V2 Oro-Nasal Mask by Hans Rudolph- now we start going down hill, but the mask does work OK for Bi-PAP if you can stand the weight

Re: Rank the masks you have tried????
Babs- thanks for the offer. Sent you an email.
Neverbetter- what is your opinion of the NA II vs. SNAPP? Pros/cons of each? Also, re the comfortlite.....do you (or anyone) actually use the little nose mask they provide with the pillows? How the heck does one get a good seal with the mask????
I agree.....Active is a good mask but heavy.....did 3 of my 8 hours with it last night....it's definitely having more appeal each time I use it. Neverbetter, the Soyala drillmaster...ROFLMAO.

Re: Rank the masks you have tried????
Edited to put In order of preference : )
ComfortLite2 (current nasal pillows - size M): comfortable, great for side sleeping, I use hose cover, but with this mask have lots of rainout due to exposed hose on top of head? Good AHI.
Mirage Quattro (current FF - size M): if kept loose, the seal is good, however not stable - leaks.
Mirage Vista (nasal mask, used 1 year - size M): fabulous for stability, good for side sleeping, headgear doesn't have velcro to keep straps in place, headgear style cuts into ear lobe of most users.
ComfortGel (nasal mask - used several months - size s): heavy, lots of moisture in mask, side sleeping disturbed seal so leaked.Mirage Swift II (nasal pillows - tried): didn't like hose on side of face so not good for side sleeping, nasal pillow holder pressed uncomfortably on upperlip.
ComfortFull 2 (FF - tried) didn't like the heaviness, also leaked out either side of chin - not pliable to fit face angle
Infinity (nasal pillow, tried): hose can't be routed over head so arms and bedding pulled out easily.

I see a lot of people like the Hybrid.
can the Hybrid be worn with facial hair?

Re: Rank the masks you have tried????
You asked neverbetter to tell you the difference the Nasal-aire and the Snapp. You will, I'm sure receive an answer.
Thought I would give you my experience, since I have tried both. I like both equally, in terms of how they work if you get the right size prongs. My problem with the Nasal-aire was that IN MY CASE, the tubing up around the head sat on a nerve for me and really gave me problems. I had arm tingling, etc. Scary! That was about 3 years ago. I know it was just how the interface set on my particular face and my sleeping position plus the fact that I do not move in my sleep. The tubing just stayed in that bad (for me) spot all night long. With the Snapp, which I got just a couple of months ago, there is not tubing around the head to catch me in just the wrong spot. For me, the slightly different design of the 2 nasal prong interfaces made a huge difference.

This is just an old fashioned tube top with another name! Here is a picture of a retro one from the 70s or 80s, not sure which era.

It could be made into a fancy RG tights replacement strip for the CL2!
