Pur sleep
I've seen this mentioned here and went to the web site to check it out. How many of ya'll use this? It looks interesting, but I was a bit worried the fragrances would be heavy like air freshener. Is it a worthwhile purchase?
No, NOTHING LIKE AIR FRESHENER!!!!
Not heavy at all. All are Aromatherapy grade fragrances, not the synthetic fragrances you're used to from home cleaning products. Which cause me massive headaches.
I use them every night and recommend them highly. As do many many many others on this forum.
Bret spent two years researching the effects of aromatherapy and has found some significant studies supporting claims of efficacy in a variety of areas. Being legally astute, Bret doesn't make any wild outrageous claims about his product.
No one where would claim they will CURE you - but they WILL make your experience of the CPAP much more pleasant. Some people here report they were never 100% compliant before Pur Sleep. They had issues with ripping the mask off in their sleep before they tried Pur Sleep.
Me, I just love it alot and think it's a very welcome addition to my sleep routine.
Cheers,
Barbara

V, what Babette said.Volcanomom wrote: Is it a worthwhile purchase?
I totally agree.
I ordered them when I first started.
I wanted every edge I could get to make this easier.
I, too, use them every night.
It does make it more pleasant when that first blast
of citrus comes through.
Good luck!!

Because of so many people raving about them, I ordered a basic starter package when I ordered my new M series. I received the package last week but haven't used them yet because I'm quite disappointed. They're nothing more than a dish you put on the floor (or whatever) behind your apap's air intake with some of the aromatherapy scent on a little pad in that dish. I expected some kind of closed receptacle that you attached to the apap.
My apap is on the floor between the bed & the nighttable and there are a bunch of power cords (apap, alarm, lamp, phone display, and power bar to plug in more stuff ie iPod, Palm PDA, Nintendo DS Lite). I'm a terrible housekeeper so along with the power cords are a bunch of dust bunnies. I can't see that putting a dish with a drop of aromatherapy smell on a pad with power cords and dust bunnies would be a good thing.
But I can see that the aromatherapy thing is possibly a good thing so I've kept it, figuring that I might put the little dish up on my dresser for the whole room instead.
Besides, paying for shipping to return it from Canada would probably cost close to the package anyway.

Volcano, there are 67 reviews on cpap.com for the basic starter pack, many other reviews for related products.
Here's the link. I'd describe the feedback as overwhelmingly positive but of course I'm the Pur-Sleep guy:
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/Pur-Sl ... -Pack.html
France, sorry to hear you're disappointed. The little unit may not look like much but quite a bit of research and development went into designing an aromatic system for CPAP that's effective, adjustible, and as simple as possible. I suggest that you organize things a bit around your machine and give it a try. The money back guarantee applies whether it's been opened or not.
Pur-Sleep originally started out with a very nice in-line diffuser that also works well but that diffusion system has been put on hold for now due to potential FDA regulatory issues.

Try the Scented CPAP Mask with Pur-Sleep's CPAP Aromatherapy--CPAP Diffuser and Essential Oils.

I am going to get in trouble again . . .
After a certain amount the human nose will no longer smell a scent. Bottom line, if it works for you and keeps you on the hose, good on you.

I had the opportunity to try it during a test drive and WOW, what a difference it made! For some reason, my mask gets a funky thing going on and it really helps keep me compliant. Since I'm using a hose hanging thingy, I can have my machine on my bedside table and hubby enjoys the spice scent as much as I do.
I tried a DIY version with some lavender and clove essential oils that I already had on a cotton makeup pad and let me tell you, they did NOT have the pleasant, properly balanced staying power of PurSleep.

SleepGuy -- I didn't mean to say that I didn't think research had gone into it; it's just not what I had expected. I have kept it because I am thinking about what I want to do but, like I said, I suspect I'll do like bearcatx16 and put it on the nighttable so hubby can enjoy it too. I like the concept of aromatherapy to help with sleep. But because of plugging those cords in and out, and picking up the phone display to see who's calling, those power cords really get pushed around so I suspect the little dish would soon get buried and the little pad get very dirty/dusty. And if I don't do housework for hubby & me, you can be sure I won't do it for a little dish & pad, no matter how nice it smells
JeffH -- It is possible to be disappointed in the look of something when it doesn't look like you expect. That's what I said. I didn't say I was disappointed in the smell and I never expressed contempt for it.

My only recommendation is that Pur Sleep offer some samples.
(Even just a small patch like a perfume sample of a few scents)
I purchased the deluxe starter pack, but found those scents too strong
for my tastes. Thankfully, lurking on this site was another member with
an offer to 'swap' 2 scents, and found now I LOVE the candy line. If I had
an option to try even a small sample, that knowledge would've allowed
me to make a more suitable purchase. Its just personal preference I suppose, but I do use the 2 bottles of the air candy line every night now.

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God. And remember - the richest person is not the one who has the most, but the one who needs the least.
