I don't use a humidifier
I notice in my short time here that most of you seem to use the humidifier. I did for the first 2 years as it really dried out my sinuses to the point I was bleeding. But somehow, I don't remember, I got away from it and have no need for 3 years now to use it. It sure is nice not to have to maintain-clean that pesky little thing everyday.
Any of you here not use one?

I suppose if you lived in a really humid area, you wouldn't need one. I live in central Indiana, and use a.c. in the summers and heat in the winters, and my sinuses would die if I didn't use a humidifier now. I guess it all depends on several variables. If you're doing absolutely fine without one, then I guess you're lucky!
You don't say what type of mask you're using; I've found that makes a difference for me.
I never used my humidifier when I was using the Ultra Mirage FFM because it retained a lot of moisture anyway. After switching to the OptiLife, I found the air going directly through my nares to be much more drying and so I sometimes add water to the tank and use it as a passover humidifier. On a couple of rare occasions last winter I used the heated humidifier at a setting of 1. I'm really not a big fan of the heat, though.

Last winter I decided to turn the heat off on my humidifier. I was using a F & P stand alone humidifier. Didn't miss the heat at all and was fine with it being in passover mode. This spring I took the humidifier completely off and haven't missed it at all. I live in Missouri and we have high humidity, but our house is air conditioned.

Well, you have a tank model, too. I notice those chambers seem to like to grow things. My M Series chamber doesn't. It's small enough that if I'm running the heat at ALL, I have to refill the tank every night. And I use ONLY Distilled Water, unless I can't get it, then tap, and then I clean scrupulously afterwards, to avoid any buggies.
So, I mainly run it passover, or only as far up as 2. I can't run it past 2 or I drown in rainout and it's just too warm on my face.
Cheers,
B.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.
I need my humidifier to hold the cold (distilled) water to keep my nasal passages open at night. And, in this part of the country, a little extra humidity doesn't hurt.

Last week I started using my HH turned off and no water in it, before I used distilled water and it turned off. Found no problems without it, so tonight when I serviced the "Tank", I removed the HH for storage. I worried about breaking the hose outlet in the machine, but I was gentle with it, it had been on 5800 HRS, from day one. It surived! Tomorrow I will clean up the parts and store them.
I must be loosing interest in XPAP, I fine it hard to download my card on time, I could blame it on the dumber "M"eries, but as it's a "Tank", I guess the operator has to step up, and take the blame. That would be one advantage to owning a "M"eries, you can always blame the machine. Jim

There is nothing to clean ... I just refill with distilled water.
Sure it takes an extra 5 seconds out of my life each night to refill it but it offsets having to spend much more time trying to stop a bloody nose for me.
